Mississauga Transit revises service, May 20



Mississauga Transit will make several changes to its services, including new and extended routes, starting Tuesday, May 20.

Specifically it will: introduce new routes; cancel a current route; revise current routes; resume a seasonal route; rename a current route; and adjust the schedules of current routes.


The changes affect these routes: 19 Hurontario; 13 Glen Erin; 16 Malton Loop; 22 Finch; 29 Park Royal; 33 Erin Centre Loop; 34 Credit Valley; 35 Eglinton; 35 Eglinton — Ninth Line; 35A Eglinton — Tenth Line; 38 Creditview; 61 Mavis; 61A Mavis — Twain; 61A Mavis — Sheridan; 89 Meadowvale — Subway; 288 Wonderland Express; 301 Phillip Pocock — Tomken; 302 Phillip Pocock — Bloor.


Introduce new routes


35 Eglinton — Ninth Line:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will revise the current 35 Eglinton route and split it into two branches: the 35 Eglinton — Ninth Line and the 35A Eglinton — Tenth Line routes. It will also extend both routes to Islington Station.

Buses on the 35 Eglinton — Ninth Line route will operate six days a week: Mondays to Fridays from about 5:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from about 6:20 a.m. until 10:15 p.m.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Erin Centre Road just east of Ninth Line Winston Churchill Boulevard and proceed:
eastward along Erin Centre;
southward along Tenth Line;
eastward along Eglinton Avenues West and East;
northward along Orbitor Drive;
eastward along Matheson Boulevard East;
westward along Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto);
northward along Renforth Drive;
eastward along Highway 401;
southward along Highway 427;
eastward along Dundas Street West (Toronto);
southward along Islington Avenue;
westward along Bloor Street West (Toronto),
ending their trip at Islington Station.

Westbound buses start their trips at Islington Station, then proceed:
westward along Bloor and Dundas Streets West (Toronto);
northward along Highway 427;
westward along Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto),
reversing the eastbound routing to Eglinton Avenue East and Tenth Line,
then continuing westward along Eglinton; and then
northward along Ninth Line to Erin Centre.

35A Eglinton — Tenth Line:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will revise the current 35 Eglinton route and split it into two branches: the 35 Eglinton — Ninth Line and the 35 Eglinton — Tenth Line routes. It will also extend both routes to Islington Station.

Buses on the 35A Eglinton — Tenth Line route operate during Monday-to-Friday rush hours only.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Erin Centre Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard and proceed:
eastward along Erin Centre;
southward along Winston Churchill;
eastward along Eglinton Avenues West and East;
northward along Orbitor Drive;
eastward along Matheson Boulevard East;
westward along Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto);
northward along Renforth Drive;
eastward along Highway 401;
southward along Highway 427;
eastward along Dundas Street West (Toronto);
southward along Islington Avenue;
westward along Bloor Street West (Toronto),
ending their trip at Islington Station.

Westbound buses start their trips at Islington Station, then proceed:
westward along Bloor and Dundas Streets West (Toronto);
northward along Highway 427;
westward along Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto),
reversing the eastbound routing to Eglinton Avenue East and Tenth Line,
then proceeding northward along Tenth; and then
eastward along Erin Centre to Winston Churchill.

29 Park Royal:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will split the freqency of the service and revise the current 13 Glen Erin route. Buses on the new 29 Park Royal route will operate from the Erin Mills Town Centre to Clarkson village, passing the Credit Valley Hospital, South Common Centre, Sheridan Centre, the Park Royal neighbourhood and Clarkson GO Station.

Buses operate seven days a week: Mondays to Fridays from about 5 a.m. until 1 a.m., Saturdays from about 5 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. and Sundays from about 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Southbound buses start their trips at the Erin Mills Town Centre and proceed:
eastward along Erin Centre Boulevard;
southward along Erin Mills Parkway;
westward along Credit Valley Road;
southward along Glen Erin Drive;
eastward along Burnhamthorpe Road West;
southward through the South Common Centre Terminal;
south- and eastward along South Millway West;
southward along Erin Mills;
eastward along Lincoln Greenway;
south- and westward along Fowler Drive;
southward along Erin Mills and Southdown Road;
westward along Truscott Drive;
southward along Winston Churchill Boulevard;
eastward along Bromsgrove Drive;
southward along Southdown;
through Clarkson GO Station Terminal;
southward along Southdown;
eastward along Orr Road,
ending their trips at Inverhouse Drive.

Northbound buses operate from Orr Road and Inverhouse Drive and proceed:
northward along Inverhouse;
westward along Lakeshore Road West;
northward along Southdown Road;
through Clarkson GO Station;
northward along Southdown Road;
west- and northward along South Millway West,
and then reversing their southward trip
to Erin Mills at the Erin Mills Town Centre, and then
ending their trips at the Erin Mills Town Centre Terminal.


Cancel a route


35 Eglinton:

Friday, May 16 will be the last day that buses operate along this route. Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will replace the 35 Eglinton route with the new 35 Eglinton — Ninth Line and 35A Eglinton — Tenth Line routes.


Revise current routes


34 Credit Valley:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will revise the route to extend service further west to Winston Churchill Boulevard.

Eastbound buses will operate from Erin Mills Town Centre:
westward along Erin Centre Road;
southward along Winston Churchill Boulevard; and then
eastward along Eglinton Avenue West to Erin Mills Parkway,
resuming their regular route southward along Erin Mills.

Westbound buses will reverse this routing.

Note that buses on this route detour through the Credit Valley Hospital grounds.

33 Erin Centre Loop:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will revise the route to restore transit service to Kimbermount Avenue. (Buses operating on the 34 Credit Valley route served stops along Kimbermount until January 28, 2008.)

Buses on the counterclockwise loop will operate along their current route to Artesian Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard, then proceed:
northward along Winston Churchill Boulevard;
eastward along Eglinton Avenue West; and then
southward along Kimbermount Avenue,
resuming their regular route eastward along Credit Valley Drive.

Buses on the clockwise loop reverse this routing.

Note that buses on this route detour through the Credit Valley Hospital grounds.

13 Glen Erin:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will shorten and revise the route so that buses on the 13 Glen Erin route do not operate south of Clarkson GO Station or through the Park Royal neighbourhood. Buses operating on the new 29 Park Royal route will serve Park Royal and Clarkson village.

Southbound buses operate along their current route to Southdown Road and Truscott Drive and then continue southward to Clarkson GO Station, where they end their trips. They do not travel through Park Royal along Truscott, Winston Churchill Boulevard and Bromsgrove Drive.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound routing.

301 Philip Pocock — Tomken:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, southbound buses will leave from the front of the Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School at 2:11, 2:13, 2:15 and 2:38 p.m. and proceed:
northward along Tomken Road;
eastward along Eglinton Avenue East;
southward along Dixie Road; and then
westward along Eastgate Parkway to Tomken,
resuming their regular route southward along Tomken.

302 Philip Pocock — Bloor:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, southbound buses will leave from the front of the Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School at 2:14 p.m. and proceed:
northward along Tomken Road;
eastward along Eglinton Avenue East;
southward along Dixie Road; and then
westward along Eastgate Parkway to Tomken,
resuming their regular route southward along Tomken.


Resume seasonal service


288 Wonderland Express:

Starting Saturday, May 17, Mississauga Transit will resume its regular summer service between the Mississauga City Centre Terminal at Square One and Canada’s Wonderland.


Rename a current route


61A Mavis — Twain:

On Tuesday, May 20, Mississauga Transit will rename the route 61A Mavis — Sheridan.


Adjust the schedules of current routes


38 Creditview:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, some Monday-to-Friday morning rush hour trips will operate later than currently. The bus operating on the northbound trip that currently leaves Trillium Hospitat at 5:27 a.m. will leave 9 minutes earlier at 5:18 a.m. The bus operating on the northbound trip that currently leaves Argentia Loop at 5:47 a.m. will leave 8 minutes earlier at 5:39 a.m. The bus operating on the northbound trip that currently leaves Argentia Loop at 6:07 a.m. will leave Trillium Health Centre one hour and four minutes earlier at 5:03 a.m. The buses operating on the southbound trips that currently leave Meadowvale Town Centre at 5:58, 6:18 and 6:39 a.m. will leave 8 to 9 minutes earlier at 5:50, 6:10 and 6:30 a.m. The bus that currently operates on the southbound trip that leaves Central Parkway West and Semenyk Court at 5:14 a.m. will leave 9 minutes earlier at 5:05 a.m.

Starting Saturday, May 24, buses will operate on new Saturday southbound trips leaving Meadowvale Town Centre at 6:23 and 7:29 a.m.

22 Finch:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, buses will operate on the route later Mondays to Fridays. Buses operating on new eastbound trips will leave Westwood Mall at 11:31 p.m. and 12:01 a.m. Buses operating on new westbound trips will leave Etobicoke Hospital at 11:44 p.m. and 12:14 a.m.

19 Hurontario:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, the bus operating on the Monday-to-Friday northbound trip currently leaving the City Centre Terminal at 4:47 a.m. will leave Port Credit GO Station 24 minutes earlier at 4:33 a.m.

16 Malton Loop:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, buses will operate on new schedules from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

61 Mavis:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, the bus operating on the Monday-to-Friday southbound trip that currently leaves Syntex Court and Financial Drive at 8:27 a.m. will leave 2 minutes earlier at 8:25 a.m.

89 Meadowvale — Subway:

Starting Tuesday, May 20, buses will operate on new schedules during Monday-to-Friday rush hours.
