Weekend events affect transit, May 17, 18, 19

Special events in Barrie and Toronto will affect transit services during this long Victoria Day weekend.

The events are the Ashbridges Bay Victoria Day fireworks display and the Barrie Waterfront Festival.

The events affect these routes:

Barrie Transit10 Livingstone, 12 Blake.

Toronto Transit Commission22 Coxwell, 64 Main, 92 Woodbine South.

Barrie:

Barrie Waterfront Festival

The fourth annual festival will fill the downtown Barrie shores of Kempenfelt Bay with music, entertainment and family activities throughout the weekend.

All weekend, from noon until 5 p.m., the City of Barrie will close Dunlop Street East between Bayfield and Mulcaster Streets to accommodate Dunlopfest — a number of musical acts performing at several venues along the street.

Barrie Transit will likely make minor routing changes to the 12 Blake and the 10 Livingstone routes, which usually operate along this section of Dunlop.

Barrie Transit will not be operating any service on Victoria Day, Monday, May 19.

Toronto

Ashbridges Bay Fireworks Display

The City of Toronto will host its annual display starting at 9:45 p.m. on Victoria Day, Monday, May 19 in Ashbridges Bay Park. The park lies south of Lake Shore Boulevard East between Woodbine and Coxwell Avenues.

To handle the large crowds that usually attend the display, the TTC will increase the frequency of service and the number of buses on three routes routes linking the 2 Bloor-Danforth subway and the eastern beaches — 22A Coxwell, 64 Main and 92 Woodbine South.
