DRT diverts Oshawa bus services

Durham Region Transit’s website today lists three detours of bus routes in Oshawa, although it does not explain why the detours are necessary. (Although we can figure out the reason for one of them!)

The detours affect these routes: 6 Dean; 8 Stevenson; and 11 Grandview.

6 Dean:

Starting today, Wednesday, June 4, southbound Monday-to-Saturday daytime buses are operating along their regular route to Farewell Street and Wentworth Street East, then proceed westward along Wentworth. Buses are not travelling along Colonel Sam Drive during the Canadian Auto Workers’ blockade of General Motors of Canada headquarters. (Buses do not operate along Colonel Sam Monday-to-Saturday evenings or Sundays.)

11 Grandview:

Starting yesterday, Tuesday, June 3 until Wednesday, June 11, buses operate along their regular route to Grandview Street South and Bloor Street East, then detour:

eastward along Bloor;
southward along Townline Road South,
eastward along on Gord Vinson Avenue;
southward along Fenning Drive;
westward along Bingham Gate; and then
northward along Townline to Grandview Drive,
resuming their regular route northward along Townline.

8 Stevenson:

Starting yesterday, Tuesday, June 3 until Wednesday, June 11, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Stevenson Road North and Annapolis Avenue, then detour:

northward along Stevenson to Marion,
resuming their regular route eastward along Marion.
