Newmarket construction affects YRT service,
starting June 18

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 18, the Town of Newmarket will close Sandford Street between Eagle Street and Handley Crescent to make “infrastructure improvements”.

York Region Transit will detour bus service.

223 Newmarket GO Shuttle:

During the morning rush hours, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Sandford and William Roe Boulevard, then detour:
westward along William Roe;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Eagle Street East to Sandford,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eagle.

During the afternoon rush hours, southbound buses reverse this routing.

423 Newmarket High School:

In the morning, the southbound bus operates along its regular route to Eagle Street East and Sandford Street, then detour:
westward along Eagle;
southward along Dixon Boulevard; and then
eastward along William Roe Boulevard to Sandford,
resuming its regular route southward along Sandford.

In the afternoon, the northbound bus reverses this routing.

YRT will cancel service on the 423 Newmarket High School special route on June 27 until Tuesday, September 2.

This is the same detour that YRT previously announced for June 2 and 3 and for June 9 and 10.
