Scarborough RT closes early every night,
starting June 22



Starting on Sunday, June 22, TTC track crews will start essential overnight maintenance to replace the power rails on the 3 Scarborough Rapid Transit (RT) route. The TTC will close the RT early every night and replace the RT with frequent, accessible express buses operating every six minutes.


Closing the RT early every night affects these routes: 3 Scarborough RT; 3 Scarborough Shuttle Buses; 54 Lawrence East.


54 Lawrence East:

While the RT is closed, buses will remain on Lawrence Avenue East and not travel through Lawrence East Station.

3 Scarborough RT:

RT trains will stop operating about midnight instead of at 1:30 a.m. until early 2009.

  • The last train from Kennedy Station leaves at 11:58 p.m. every night.
  • The last train from McCowan Station leaves at 11:46 p.m. every night.

3 Scarborough Shuttle Bus:

Southbound express buses will operate from Scarborough Centre Station, then proceed:

southward along Brimley Road;
westward along Ellesmere Road;
southward along Midland Avenue;
westward along Lawrence Avenue East; and then
southward along Kennedy Road to Kennedy Station.

Southbound** buses stop only at Scarborough Centre Station, Ellesmere Road and Midland Avenue (replacing Ellesmere and Midland Stations), Lawrence East Station and Kennedy Station.

Northbound buses operate from Kennedy Station, then proceed:
northward along Kennedy Road,
eastward along Lawrence Avenue East;
northward along Midland Avenue;
eastward along Ellesmere Road;
northward along McCowan Road to Scarborough Centre Station.

Northbound buses stop only at Kennedy Station, Lawrence East Station, Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Road (replacing Midland and Ellesmere Stations), McCowan Station and Scarborough Centre Station.

  • The first bus from Kennedy Station leaves at 12:04 a.m.
  • The last bus from Kennedy Station leaves at 1:40 a.m.
  • The first bus from Scarborough Centre Station leaves at 11:49 p.m.
  • The last bus from Scarborough Centre Station leaves at 1:25 a.m.
