Weekend events affect transit, June 20, 21, 22



Update: June 20, 2:30 p.m. — this post now contains new information on an event in Georgetown and revises information on Brampton Transit and GO Transit detours in Brampton.


Special events will affect transit services in Bowmanville (Clarington), Brampton, Clarkson (Mississauga), Georgetown (Halton Hills), Markham, Oakville and Vaughan this weekend.


The events affect these routes:

Brampton Transit: 1 Queen; 2 Main; 24 Van Kirk Industrial.

GO Transit: 09 Lakeshore East; 31 Georgetown; 34 Brampton Local.

Mississauga Transit: 23 Lakeshore; 29 Park Royal.

Oakville Transit: 11 Linbrook, 13 West Oak Trails; 14 Lakeshore West; 15 Bridge; 16 Speers; 17 Kerr — Eastlake; 19 River Oaks; 20 Iroquois Ridge; 21 Clearview; 22 Upper Middle — Glen Abbey West; 24 South Common Mall; 26 Falgarwood; 27 White Oaks; 28 Glen Abbey North; 29 Uptown Core; 30 Crosstown; Waterfront Festival Shuttle; Zone Express.

Toronto Transit Commission: 102 Markham Road; 160 Bathurst North.

York Region Transit: 1 Highway 7; 77 Highway 7 — Centre.


The Friday, June 20 events are: Fabulous Fifities Festival; Markham Village Music Festival; Oakville Waterfront Festival.

The Saturday, June 21 events are: Clarkson 1808 Party; Downtown Brampton Farmers Market; Fabulous Fifities Festival; Flower City Parade; Markham Village Music Festival; Oakville Waterfront Festival.

The Sunday, June 22 events are: Clark — York Hill Parade; Oakville Waterfront Festival.


Bowmanville

Fabulous Fifties Festival

The Municipality of Clarington will close King Street Bowmanville between Scugog and George Streets from Friday, June 20 from 4 until 10 p.m. and on Saturday, June 21 between 5 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. to accomodate the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvment Area’s event

GO Transit will divert buses during the event.

09 Lakeshore East:

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to King and Ontario Streets in Bowmanville, then detour:
southward along Ontario Street South;
westward along Queen Street; and then
northward along Scugog Street South to King,
resuming their regular route westward along King.

Eastbound buses reverse this routing.


Brampton

Flower City Parade
Downtown [Brampton] Farmers Market

The City of Brampton will also close several streets in downtown Brampton on Saturday, June 16 to accomodate the parade and market. The City will close Main Street between Wellington and Nelson Streets from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will also close Main between Frederick and Wellington Streets and between Nelson and Church Streets and Market Square Boulevard between Union Street and Main Street North from 1:30 until 4 p.m. It will also close Wellington Street West between Main and George all day, from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Brampton Transit and GO Transit will divert bus services during the events.

Brampton Transit

2 Main:

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Rosedale Avenue, then detour:

westward along Rosedale;
southward along Mill Street North;
westward along Railroad Street;
southward along George Street North, stopping on the street, but not entering the Downtown Brampton Terminal; and then
westward along Nelson Street west;
southward along McMurchy Streets North and South and then
eastward along Frederick Street to Main Street South
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

1 Queen:

From 1:30 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to the Downtown Brampton Bus Terminal, then detour:

westward along Railroad Street;
northward along Mill Street North;
eastward along Market Street;
southward along Main Street North;
eastward along Church Street West;
southward along Union Street to Market Square Boulevard,
resuming their regular route southward along Market Square Boulevard.

24 Van Kirk Industrial

From 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Rosedale Avenue, then detour:

westward along Rosedale;
southward along Mill Street North;
westward along Railroad Street; and then
southward along George Street North,
ending their trips in the Downtown Brampton Terminal.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

GO Transit

31 Georgetown:

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Rosedale Avenue, then detour:

westward along Rosedale;
southward along Mill Street North;
westward along Railroad Street;
southward along George Street North;
entering the Downtown Brampton Terminal; and then
westward along Nelson Street west;
southward along McMurchy Streets North and South and then
eastward along Frederick Street to Main Street South
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

GO will also detour this route around the Georgetown Farmers’ Market.

34 Brampton Local: From 1:30 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, eastbound buses will start their trips at the Downtown Brampton Bus Terminal, then proceed:

westward along Railroad Street;
northward along Mill Street North;
eastward along Market Street;
southward along Main Street North;
eastward along Church Street West;
southward along Union Street to Market Square Boulevard,
resuming their regular route southward along Market Square Boulevard.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.


Clarington: See Bowmanville


Clarkson

Clarkson Village 1808 Party

From 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, the City of Mississauga will close Lakeshore Road West between Southdown and Meadowvale Roads to accommodate the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the village of Clarkson.

Mississauga Transit will detour bus service during the event.

23 Lakeshore:

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Southdown Road and Lakeshore Road West, then detour:

southward along Southdown;
eastward along Orr Road; and then
northward along Meadow Wood Road to Lakeshore,
resuming their regular route, eastward along Lakeshore.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.

29 Park Royal:

All buses start and end their trips at Clarkson GO Station. Buses operating on the 23 Lakeshore route replace the regular service along Southdown Road south of the station and along Orr Road. No buses will operate along Inverhouse Road during the event.


Georgetown

Georgetown Farmers Market

From 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 21, the Town of Halton Hills will close part of Main Street South Georgetown to accommodate the Central Georgetown Business Improvement Area’s weekly market.

GO Transit will detour bus service during the event.

31 Georgetown:

Buses travelling to and from Guelph will remain on Highway 7 instead of travelling along Main Street. They will not serve the Georgetown agency during the market hours.

Buses that start or end their trips at Georgetown will travel to and from the Georgetown GO Station and will not travel to downtown Georgetown.

GO will also divert this route during the Brampton Flower City Parade.

Markham

Markham Village Music Festival

The Town of Markham will close Main Street Markham between Highway 7 and Parkway Avenue, to accommodate the Main Street Business Association’s festival today, Friday, June 20 from 4 to 11 p.m. and tomorrow, Saturday, June 21from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The TTC and YRT will divert buses during the event.

TTC

102 Markham Road:

Southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Parkway Avenue, then detour:

eastward along Parkway;
southward along Wooten Way; and then
westward along Highway 7 to Main,
resuming their regular route southward along Main Street South.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

YRT

1 Highway 7

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Highway 7 and Main Street, then detour:

eastward along Highway 7; and then
northward along Wooten Way North to Church Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along Church.

Oakville

Oakville Waterfront Festival

The 17th annual festival takes place in Coronation Park from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.

Oakville Transit will revise transit services during the event.

Buses operate on extended schedules on Friday and Saturday evening and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m. Buses operate every hour during these times and replace the regular evening and Sunday Zone Express service.

28 Glen Abbey North:

Regular service.

20 Iroquois Ridge:
17 Kerr — Eastlake:

Buses operate on extended schedules on Friday and Saturday evening and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m. Buses operate every hour during these times and replace the regular evening and Sunday Zone Express service.

14 Lakeshore West:

Regular service.

11 Linbrook:

Buses operate on extended schedules on Friday and Saturday evening and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m. Buses operate every hour during these times and replace the regular evening and Sunday Zone Express service.

19 River Oaks:
24 South Common Mall:

Regular service.

16 Speers:
22 Upper Middle — Glen Abbey West:
29 Uptown Core:
13 West Oak Trails:
27 White Oaks:

Buses operate on extended schedules on Friday and Saturday evening and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m. Buses operate every hour during these times and replace the regular evening and Sunday Zone Express service.

Waterfront Festival Shuttle

A free shuttle service help you travel to the festival site. Since the Coronation Park area has limited parking, you can park for free at Sheridan College Trafalgar Campus, Bronte or Oakville GO Stations and take the shuttle to the site.

From 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, shuttle buses will operate from Sheridan College and proceed:

southward along Trafalgar Road;
westward along Cross Street;
through the Oakville GO Station bus loop;
eastward along Cross;
southward along Trafalgar;
westward along Robinson Street;
northward along Navy Street;
westward along Lakeshore Road West;
to Coronation Park; and then continuing
westward along Lakeshore;
northward along Bronte Road; and then
eastward along Wyecroft Road to Bronte GO Station.

The buses stop only at Sheridan College, Oakville GO Station, Downtown Oakville along Robinson Street; Coronation Park, Bronte Village Mall and Bronte GO Station.

Buses from Bronte GO Station reverse the routing to Sheridan College.

Zone Express:

No service on Friday and Saturday evening and during the daytime on Sunday. Regular service resumes at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.


Vaughan:

Clark / York Hill Parade

From 4 until 5:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 22, the City of Vaughan will close Clark Avenue at York Hill Road to accommodate a parade.

The TTC and YRT will divert bus services during the event.

TTC

160 Bathurst North:

Southbound buses operate along their regular route to Atkinson Avenue and Centre Street, then detour:

westward along Centre; and then
southward along Bathurst to Clark Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Bathurst.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route.

YRT

77 Highway 7 — Centre:

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to the Promenade Terminal, then detour:

eastward along Centre Street; and then
southward along Atkinson Avenue to Clark Avenue,
resuming their regular route eastward along Clark.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.
