DRT

DRT increased adult fares to $2.85 from $2.75 and the cost of an adult monthly pass to $92 from $95. In general, this fare increase makes buying several tickets at a single purchase or buying passes more attractive than paying cash.

You can use “old” DRT tickets with cash to “top up” your fare when you board a DRT bus. Adults and students can top up their fare by paying 10 cents at the farebox with old tickets. Seniors and children can top their fare by paying five cents.

You can exchange old DRT tickets for new ones at several locations until Friday, October 31 at:

• DRT Headquarters, main floor reception at 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
• DRT West, 110 Westney Road South, Ajax, Mondays to Fridays from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
• United Way Information Services Kiosk, Oshawa Centre, Oshawa, Mondays to Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Guelph Transit

Starting Sunday, July 6, Guelph Transit will increase its fares. Adult passengers will pay $2.25 at the farebox, instead of a flat $2.00. Monthly prices will increase to $63.00 from $58.00.

Increasing fares will help GT increase its service. On Monday, July 7, Guelph Transit will place ten more buses in service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours and increase Monday-to-Friday daytime service to downtown Guelph to every 20 minutes. In the fall and winter, GT will start operating more accessible buses.
