Toronto Transit Commission meets July 10



The Toronto Transit Commission will meet in Committee Room 2, Second Floor, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.

Among other items that it will discuss, the Commission will review a staff report detailing statistics on criminal offenses that took place on the TTC in 2007 and measures that TTC staff are taking to make the system safer and more secure. It will also consider a staff report recommending that the Commission approve the various 2008 service changes that the Commission reviewed during its April meeting.


If the Commission approves the 2008 service change report, on November 23, it will:

  • eliminate the 7A Bathurst branch between Wilson and St. Clair West Stations;
  • extend the 63 Ossington route to Liberty Village;
  • revise the 316 Ossington (overnight) route south of King Street;
  • extend the 66B Prince Edward route to Humber Bay Shores.
  • revise the 71 Runnymede route along Industry Street and to the Mount Dennis Garage;
  • introduce new service along Torbarrie Road.

TTC staff also recommend that, on January 9, 2009 or as soon as the City of Toronto completes its project to build a railway underpass at Finch Avenue East and Morningside Avenue, the TTC will:

  • extend the 39 Finch East route to Valley Centre Drive; and
  • extend the 116 Morningside route to Steeles Avenue East.
