The Toronto Transportation Society has announced its annual Labour Day Transportation Weekend which Toronto-area railfans simply can’t miss.
On Saturday, August 30, the TTS will hire a highway coach from Parkinson Coach Lines for a tour of transit properties through southwestern Ontario. The charter will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the north side of Subway Crescent, opposite the kiss ‘n’ ride at Kipling Subway Station, returning to that spot at 6:15 p.m. Garage visits are expected in Stratford, Woodstock and London. The cost of this charter is $35 CDN or US for TTS members, $40 for non-members.
Then, on Sunday, August 31, the TTS hopes to charter one of the TTC’s last two PCCs for a five hour tour of Toronto’s streetcar network. The charter begins at the corner of Victoria and Dundas Street at 10:30 a.m., dropping off at the same location at 3:30 p.m. The cost of this charter is $40 to TTS members and $45 for non-members.
TTS members can also purchase a weekend pass for $70, which is certainly a reason to join this Toronto transit fan organization.
