Wilson Avenue Remains Closed in Aftermath of Explosions

Toronto Police Services has issued a press release updating the public on their ongoing investigation and management of the propane depot disaster that damaged buildings, injured and killed people, and forced the evacuation of 12,000.

By and large, the situation is returning to normal. Highway 401 has been reopened for traffic, although nearby exits remain closed so that the police can continue their investigation. A number of roads in the area remain closed as well, including Wilson Avenue from Murray Road to Ancastor Road.

This closure, if it continues into Monday morning, will affect buses travelling on Wilson between Keele and Dufferin, with Lawrence Avenue being the most convenient east-west alternate close at hand. Passengers on 96 Wilson, 165 Weston Road North and 120 Calvington should check ahead this morning to see if the diversion is still in place before they travel, and allow themselves extra time to get to where they’re going.
