Mississauga Transit revises services,
starting September 2



On Tuesday, September 2, Mississauga Transit will make a number of changes to its routes and services, improving transit for riders in Churchill Meadows, Malton and other areas of Mississauga.


Specifically, MT will: introduce new routes; revise current regular routes; increase service hours on current regular routes; reduce service on current seasonal routes; resume services to high schools; adjust the schedules of current routes.


The changes affect these routes: 11 Westwood; 11A Westwood — Darcel; 11B Westwood — Nashua; 41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre; 41A Thomas — Streetsville GO; 43 Speakman; 46 Tenth Line; 49 McDowell — Erin Mills Centre; 49A McDowell — Streetsville GO; 66 McLaughlin; 110 University; 288 Wonderland Express; 301 Philip Pocock — Tomken; 302 Philip Pocock — Bloor; 303 Father Goetz — Square One; 304 Father Goetz — Mississauga Valley; 305 Streetsville Secondary — Falconer; 306 Streetsville Secondary — Square One; 307 St. Aloysius Gonzaga; 308 Saint Joseph — Eglinton; 309 Saint Joseph — Square One; 310 Clarkson Secondary — Winston Churchill; 312 Gordon Graydon — Square One; 314 Rick Hanson — Donway; 315 Rick Hanson — Square One; 316 Saint Francis Xavier; 317 Clarkson — Erindale Secondary; 318 Cawthra Secondary — Square One; 321 Stephen Lewis Secondary; 322 Saint Joan of Arc; 328 Cawthra Secondary — Square One; 334 Saint Joseph — Square One.


Introduce new routes

322 Saint Joan of Arc Secondary School

Starting Tuesday, September 2, a bus will leave Artesian Drive west of Winston Churchill Boulevard at 7:57 a.m. on this new high school special route and proceed:

westward along Artesian;
northward along Sebastian Drive;
westward along Aquinas Avenue;
northward along Middlesex Gate and Tenth Line; and then
westward along Thomas Street to Saint Joan of Arc Secondary School, arriving at 8:10 a.m.

In the afternoon, a bus will leave Saint Joan of Arc at 2:40 p.m. and proceed:

westward along Thomas Street;
northward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
eastward along McDowell Drive;
southward along Tenth Line and Middlesex Gate;
westward along Aquinas Avenue;
southward along Sebastian Drive; and then
eastward along Artesian Drive to Winston Churchill Boulevard, arriving at 2:59 p.m.

321 Stephen Lewis Secondary School

Starting Tuesday, September 2, a bus will leave Artesian Drive west of Winston Churchill Boulevard at 8:33 a.m. on this new high school special route and proceed:

westward along Artesian;
northward along Sebastian Drive;
westward along Aquinas Avenue;
northward along Middlesex Gate and Tenth Line; and then
westward along Thomas Street to Stephen Lewis Secondary School, arriving at 8:45 a.m.

In the afternoon, a bus will leave Stephen Lewis at 3:25 p.m. and proceed:

westward along Thomas Street;
northward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
eastward along McDowell Drive;
southward along Tenth Line and Middlesex Gate;
westward along Aquinas Avenue;
southward along Sebastian Drive; and then
eastward along Artesian Drive to Winston Churchill Boulevard, arriving at 3:40 p.m.

46 Tenth Line

Starting Tuesday, September 2, MT offers through Monday-to-Friday rush hour service along Tenth Line. Buses operate every 28 minutes along the route.

Southbound buses start their trips at Lisgar GO Station, then proceed:

southward along Tenth Line;
eastward along Erin Centre Boulevard; and then
through the Erin Mills Town Centre to Erin Mills Centre Terminal.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre

Starting Tuesday, September 2, buses operate from about 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, Monday-to-Friday evenings from about 7 until 11 p.m., Saturdays from about 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from about 10:15 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Buses operate every 20 minutes during Monday-to-Friday late morning and early afternoon rush hours and every 40 minutes from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, Monday-to-Friday evenings and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Ninth Line south of Henrietta Way, then proceed:

northward along Ninth;
eastward along TACC Drive;
northward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
eastward along Thomas Street;
southward along Glen Erin Drive;
eastward along Erin Centre Boulevard; and then
through the Erin Mills Town Centre to Erin Mills Centre Terminal,
where the buses end their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips at the Erin Mills Centre Terminal, then proceed:

through the Erin Mills Town Centre;
westward along Erin Centre Boulevard;
northward along Glen Erin Drive;
westward along Thomas Street;
southward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
westward along Erin Centre Boulevard; and then
northward along Ninth Line to south of Henrietta Way,
where the buses end their trips.

Before about 8:15 a.m. and from about 5 until 6:30 p.m., buses operate on the 41A Thomas — Streetsville GO route instead of the 41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre route.

The new route introduces transit service on Thomas Street between Churchill Meadows and Winston Churchill Boulevards and partially replaces the transit service that buses operating on the 49 McDowell — Erin Mills Centre route currently provide along Thomas Street between Glen Erin Drive and Winston Churchill and along TACC Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard.

41A Thomas — Streetsville GO

Starting Tuesday, September 2, buses operating on this route replace all 41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre service during the Monday-to-Friday early morning and late afternoon rush hours. Passengers on morning buses will arrive at Streetsville GO Station in time to connect with GO Transit’s 21 Milton train heading toward Union Station. Passengers on afternoon 21 Milton trains from Union Station will arrive at Streetsville in time to connect with afternoon 41A Thomas — Streetsville GO buses.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Ninth Line south of Henrietta Way, then proceed:

northward along Ninth;
eastward along TACC Drive;
northward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
eastward along Thomas Street to Streetsville GO Station,
where the buses end their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips at Streetsville GO Station, then proceed:

westward along Thomas Street;
southward along Churchill Meadows Boulevard;
westward along Erin Centre Boulevard; and then
northward along Ninth Line to south of Henrietta Way,
where the buses end their trips.

In the morning, buses leave Ninth Line south of Henrietta Way every 20 minutes from 5:59 until 7:59 a.m., with two more buses leaving at 7:32 and 7:52 a.m. In the afternoon, buses leave Streetsville GO Station every 20 minutes from 5:13 until 7:53 p.m. Buses operate in both directions during both morning and afternoon rush hours.

The new route introduces transit service on Thomas Street between Churchill Meadows and Winston Churchill Boulevards and partially replaces the transit service that buses operating on the 49A McDowell — Streetsville GO route currently provide along Thomas Street between Glen Erin Drive and Winston Churchill and along TACC Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard.

Revise current regular routes

49 McDowell — Erin Mills Centre

Starting Tuesday, September 2, eastbound buses start their trips on Ninth Line, north of Thomas Street, then follow the current route to the Erin Mills Centre Terminal.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to McDowell Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard, then proceed:

southward along Churchill Meadows;
westward along Thomas Street to Ninth Line,
where the buses end their trips.

Mississauga Transit buses operating on the new 41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre and 41A Thomas — Streetsville GO routes will now serve stops along TACC Drive, although 41 and 41A buses will operate eastward, instead of westward, along TACC. MT buses will no longer operate along Deepwood Heights or Ninth Line between TACC and Thomas.

49A McDowell — Streetsville GO

Starting Tuesday, September 2, eastbound buses start their trips on Ninth Line, north of Thomas Street, then follow the current route to the Erin Mills Centre Terminal.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to McDowell Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard, then proceed:

southward along Churchill Meadows;
westward along Thomas Street to Ninth Line,
where the buses end their trips.

Mississauga Transit buses operating on the new 41 Thomas — Erin Mills Centre and 41A Thomas — Streetsville GO routes will now serve stops along TACC Drive, although 41 and 41A buses will operate eastward, instead of westward, along TACC. MT buses will no longer operate along Deepwood Heights or Ninth Line between TACC and Thomas.

66 McLaughlin

On Tuesday, September 2 (or when the new Confederation Parkway bridge across Highway 403 opens), southbound buses will operate along their current route to McLaughlin Road and Eglinton Avenue West, then proceed:

southward along Confederation Parkway; and then
eastward along Rathburn Road West to the Mississauga City Centre Terminal at Square One,
where the buses end their trips.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

(Since April 1, MT buses operating on the 66 McLaughlin route have detoured along Mavis Road between Courtneypark Drive West and Cantay Road while the Ontario Ministry of Transport reconstructs the McLaughlin Road bridge over Highway 401.)

11 Westwood

Starting, Tuesday, September 2 Mississauga Transit will revise the hours of service and routes of the various branches of the current 11 Westwood service. It will also rename the various branches. Buses operating along all branches will travel along Highway 27 and Rexdale Boulevard, instead of Highway 427 north of Highway 401, seven days a week. (Currently, buses only travel along Highway 27 on Sundays and holidays.)

Southbound buses operating on the main 11 Westwood branch start their trips at Westwood Terminal and proceed:

westward along Morning Star Drive;
southward along Goreway Drive;
eastward along Derry Road East and Rexdale Boulevard;
southward along Highways 27 and 427;
eastward along Burnhamthorpe Road;
southeastward along Cordova Avenue;
eastward along Central Park Roadway;
southward along Islington Avenue;
westward along Bloor Street West to Islington Station,
where the buses end their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at Islington Station and proceed:

westward along Bloor and Dundas Streets West;
northward along Highways 427 and 27;
westward along Rexdale Boulevard and Derry Road East;
northward along Goreway Drive;
westward along Morning Star Drive to Westwood Terminal,
where the buses end their trips.

Buses operate along the main 11 Westwood branch Mondays to Fridays from about 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturdays from about 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sundays from about 8 a.m. until 1 a.m.

During Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, buses operate every 23 to 22 minutes, with alternate southbound buses operating along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch and alternate northbound buses operating along the 11B Westwood — Nashua branch. (Buses operate every 11 minutes along the common part of the route.) From about 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., buses operate every 72 to 71 minutes, with alternate buses in both directions operating along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch. (Buses operate every 36 minutes along the common part of the route.) During Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours, buses operate every 23 to 22 minutes, with alternate northbound buses operating along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch and alternate southbound buses operating along the 11B Westwood — Nashua branch. (Buses operate every 11 minutes along the common part of the route.)

After 8 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and after 10:45 p.m. on Saturdays, all buses operate along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch. On Sundays, all buses operate along the main branch, with a bus serving stops along the route every 30 to 35 minutes.

11A Westwood — Darcel

Starting Tuesday, September 2, Mississauga Transit will operate buses along this branch of the route during more times of the week and in both directions. (Currently, buses operate southward only during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours and northward only late Monday-to-Saturday evenings.)

Southbound buses start their trips at Westwood Terminal, then proceed:

east- and southward along Morning Star Drive;
south- and westward along Darcel Avenue;
southward along Netherbrae Drive;
west- and southward along Rexwood Road;
eastward along Derry Road East and Rexdale Boulevard;
southward along Highways 27 and 427;
northwestward along Dundas Street West;
southward along Islington Avenue; and then
westward along Bloor Street West to Islington Station,
where the buses end their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at Islington Station, then proceed:

westward along Bloor and Dundas Streets West;
northward along Highways 427 and 27;
westward along Rexdale Boulevard and Derry Road East;
north- and eastward along Rexwood Road;
northward along Netherbrae Road;
east- and northward along Darcel Avenue;
north- and westward along Morning Star Drive to Westwood Terminal,
where the buses end their trips.

During Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, buses operate southbound only every 23 to 22 minutes with alternate buses operating along the main 11 Westwood branch. (Buses operate every 11 minutes along the common part of the route.) From about 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., buses operate every 72 to 71 minutes, with alternate buses in both directions operating along the main 11 Westwood branch. (Buses operate every 36 minutes along the common parts of the route.) During Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours, buses operate northbound only every 23 to 22 minutes, with alternate buses operating along the main 11 Westwood branch. (Buses operate every 11 minutes along the common part of the route.) After 8 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and after 10:45 p.m. on Saturdays, all buses operate about every 35 minutes along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch. Buses do not operate along the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch on Sundays and holidays.

During Monday-to-Friday rush hours buses operate northward only on the 11B Westwood — Nashua branch to drop off passengers working in the industrial area south of Derry Road and buses operate southward only on the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch to pick up passengers heading to work from the residential area north of Derry. In the afternoon rush hour, MT reverses this arrangement, with northbound buses operating on the 11A Westwood — Darcel branch, dropping passengers off in the residential area and southbound buses operating on the 11B Westwood — Nashua route picking up passengers in the industrial area.

11B Westwood — Nashua

Starting Monday, September 2, this new branch will replace the current 11A Westwood Monday-to-Friday morning rush hour service along Rexwood Road and Nashua Drive. The new branch also operates during afternoon rush hours.

Monday-to-Friday morning rush hour buses only operate northward from Islington Station, proceeding:

westward along Bloor and Dundas Streets West;
northward along Highways 427 and 27;
westward along Rexdale Boulevard and Derry Road East;
southward along Rexwood Road to the southern intersection of Nashua Drive;
westward along Nashua;
northward along Goreway Drive; and then
westward along Morning Star Drive to Westwood Terminal,
where the buses end their trips.

After leaving Westwood during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, the buses follow the southbound 11A Westwood — Darcel routing to return to Islington Station.

Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hour buses only operate southbound from Westwood Terminal, introducing new counter-clockwise afternoon rush hour service along Nashua and Rexwood. After leaving Westwood, they proceed:

westward along Morning Star Drive;
southward along Goreway Drive;
eastward along Nashua Drive;
northward along Rexwood Road;
eastward along Derry Road East and Rexdale Boulevard;
southward along Highways 27 and 427;
northeastward along Dundas Street West;
southward along Islington Avenue;
westward along Bloor Street West to Islington Station,
where the buses end their trips.

After leaving Islington Station during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours, the buses follow the northbound 11A Westwood — Darcel routing to return to Westwood.


Increase service hours on current regular routes

43 Speakman

Starting Tuesday, September 2, Mississauga Transit will introduce hourly evening service along the route.

Southbound buses leave South Common Terminal every hour from 10:08 a.m. until 3:08 p.m. Three southbound evening trips will leave South Common at 6:43, 7:43 and 8:43 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Clarkson GO Station every hour from 9:38 a.m. until 3:38 p.m. Three northbund evening trips will leave Clarkson at 7:16, 8:16 and 9:16 p.m.


Reduce service on current seasonal routes

288 Wonderland Express

Friday August 29 will be the last day this year that Mississauga Transit operates buses on the route seven days a week. From Saturday, August 30 until Sunday, October 12, buses will only operate on Saturdays, Sundays and Labour Day, Monday, September 1.

Monday-to-Friday service resumes on Tuesday, September 2. Buses will operate along the same routes as last term, but some buses may operate under revised schedules.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, Mississauga Transit will also introduce two new high school routes — 321 Stephen Lewis Secondary School and 322 Saint Joan of Arc Secondary School.
