Update — Saturday, September 13, 12:10 p.m.: this post now contains details on how the Roncesvalles Polish Festival and the Toronto Ukrainian Festival will affect transit services this weekend. Most important for transit riders: the TTC does not operate any service — including a shuttle bus to replace streetcars — to the Roncesvalles area. Transit Toronto apologizes for misinformation that appeared in an earlier version of this post.

Terry Fox Runs and other special events affect transit services in Toronto this weekend.


The events affect these routes:

Toronto Transit Commission26 Dupont, 32 Eglinton West, 35 Jane; 41 Keele, 60B Steeles West, 74 Mount Pleasant, 75 Sherbourne, 82 Rosedale, 88 South Leaside, 106 York University, 300 Bloor - Danforth (overnight), 312 St. Clair (overnight); 313 Jane (overnight), 504 King; 504 King (shuttle bus).

York Region TransitViva orange, Viva purple, 3 Thornhill / York U, 10 York U / Woodbridge, 20 Jane / Concord.


The Friday, September 12 event affecting transit is: Toronto Ukrainian Festival.

The Saturday, September 13 events affecting transit are: Roncesvalles Polish Festival; Toronto Ukrainian Festival.

The Sunday, September 14 events affecting transit are: Roncesvalles Polish Festival; Terry Fox Runs — in North York, Rosedale - Moore Park, Upper Canada College, York University; Toronto Ukrainian Festival.

Terry Fox Runs also take place in The Beaches, Etobicoke, High Park, Scarborough, Ward’s Island and West Hill. As far as we know, these events will not affect transit services. (Most take place in parks or along trails.)


Toronto


Roncesvalles Polish Festival

On Saturday and Sunday, the City of Toronto will close Roncesvalles Avenue between Howard Park and Galley Avenues to accommodate the Roncesvalles Village Business Improvement Area’s annual celebration of Polish culture in Toronto.

The TTC will detour transit services during the event, resulting in no transit service along Roncesvalles Avenue this weekend.

313 Jane (overnight)

From about 2 until 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue, then detour:

southeastward along Dundas;
southward along Lansdowne Avenue;
westward along Queen Street West and the Queensway; and then
loop through the Sunnyside Loop as usual,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at Sunnyside Loop, as usual, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue;
eastward along the Queensway and Queen Street West;
northward along Lansdowne Avenue; and then
northwestward along Dundas Street West to Roncesvalles Avenue;
resuming their regular route northward along Dundas.

504 King

From 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 until 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, eastbound streetcars start their trips in the Roncesvalles Carhouse Yard, then proceed along their regular route southward along Roncesvalles Avenue.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street West and the Queensway / Queen Street West, then proceed:

northward along Roncesvalles Avenue to Roncesvalles Carhouse,
ending their trips.

The TTC will not replace streetcar service with bus service north of Queen Street West / the Queensway.


Terry Fox Runs

Runs take place throughout Toronto, mostly on Sunday morning, September 14. Many runs take place in parks or along trails. The courses of three of the Toronto runs require participants to use City streets, which may delay transit services. York University will close some of the roadways in the Keele Campus for its run and transit agencies will detour transit services.


Terry Fox Run (North York)

98 Willowdale - Senlac

Run participants will pass along part of Senlac Road. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.


Terry Fox Run (Rosedale - Moore Park)

TTC

74 Mount Pleasant

Run participants will pass along part of Mount Pleasant Road. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.

82 Rosedale

Run participants will pass along part of MacLennan, Edgar, Scholfield and Highland Avenues and Glen Road. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.

75 Sherbourne

Run participants will pass along part of Maple Avenue and South Drive. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.

88 South Leaside

Run participants will pass along part of Moore Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.


Terry Fox Run (Upper Canada College)

32 Eglinton West

Run participants will pass along part of Eglinton Avenue West. Passengers should expect delays until about noon on Sunday, September 14.


Terry Fox Run (York University)

York University will close Ian Macdonald Boulevard between Northwest Gate and The Chimneystack Road to accommodate the run.

The Toronto Transit Commission and York Region Transit will detour buses during the race.

TTC

The TTC has not announced detours, so this post describes how it has detoured buses when York has closed Ian Macdonald Boulevard during previous events.

41 Keele

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., southbound buses start their trips at York Lanes, then proceed:

eastward along York Boulevard to Keele Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Keele.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to York Lanes,
ending their trips.

60B Steeles West

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., eastbound buses start their trips at York Lanes, then proceed:

eastward along York Boulevard to Keele Street; and then
northward along Keele Street to Steeles Avenue West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Steeles.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

106 York University

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., northbound buses operate along their regular route to Ian Macdonald Boulevard and Northwest Gate, then proceed:

northward along Northwest;
eastward along Steeles Avenue West;
southward along Keele Street; and then
westward along York Boulevard to York Lanes,
ending their trips.

YRT

20 Jane / Concord

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., southbound buses buses operate along their regular route to Founders Road and Steeles Avenue West, then detour:

eastward along Steeles;
southward along Keele Street; and then
westward along The Chimneystack Road to Ian Macdonald Boulevard,
resuming their regular route southward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard.

Northbound buses start their trips at Ian Macdonald and York Boulevards, then proceed:

eastward along York Boulevard;
northward along Keele Street; and then
westward along Steeles Avenue West to Founders Road,
resuming their regular route westward along Steeles.

3 Thornhill / York U

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Ian Macdonald Boulevard and The Chimneystack Road, then detour:

eastward along The Chimneystack;
southward along Keele Street;
eastward along Canartic Drive; and then
northward along Petrolia Road to Steeles Avenue West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Steeles.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

The Terry Fox Run in Thornhill may also delay service along this route.

Viva orange

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Jane Street and Steeles Avenue West, then detour:

eastward along Steeles;
southward along Keele Street; and then
westward along The Chimneystack Road to Ian Macdonald Boulevard,
resuming their regular route southward along Ian Macdonald.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to York and Ian Macdonald Boulevards, then proceed:

northward along Ian Macdonald;
eastward along The Chimneystack Road;
southward along Keele Street;
eastward along Canartic Drive;
northward along Petrolia Road; and then
westward along Steeles Avenue West to Jane Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Jane.

Viva purple

Buses operate along their regular route.

10 York U / Woodbridge

On Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., southbound buses buses operate along their regular route to Founders Road and Steeles Avenue West, then detour:

eastward along Steeles;
southward along Keele Street; and then
westward along The Chimneystack Road to Ian Macdonald Boulevard,
resuming their regular route southward along Ian Macdonald.

Northbound buses will begin their trips at York Lanes, then proceed:


eastward along York Boulevard;
northward along Keele Street; and then
westward along Steeles Avenue West to Founders Road,
resuming their regular route at westward along Steeles.


Toronto Ukrainian Festival

The City of Toronto will close Bloor Street West between Jane Street and Runnymede Road on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the festival.

The TTC will detour bus service during the event.

300 Bloor - Danforth (overnight)

From about 2 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 and from about 2 until 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, eastbound buses operate along their regular routes to Bloor Street West and Jane Street, then detour:

northward along Jane;
eastward along Annette Street; and then
southward along High Park Avenue to Bloor,
resuming their regular route eastward along Bloor.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Bloor Street West and Runnymede Road, then detour:

northward along Runnymede;
westward along Annette Street; and then
southward along Jane Street to Bloor,
resuming their regular route westward along Bloor.

26 Dupont

From 9 a.m. on Friday, September 12 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, eastbound buses start their trips at Jane Station, as usual, but detour:

northward along Armadale Avenue; and then
westward along Colbeck Street to Jane Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Jane.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

35 Jane

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 9 a.m. on Friday, September 12 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, northbound buses start their trips at Jane Station, as usual, but detour:

northward along Armadale Avenue; and then
westward along Colbeck Street to Jane Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Jane.

312 St. Clair (overnight)

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

From about about 2 until 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14, northbound buses start their trips at Jane Station, as usual, but detour:

northward along Armadale Avenue; and then
westward along Colbeck Street to Jane Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Jane.
