Sunday events affect transit,
November 2



Road marathons in Hamilton and Markham will affect transit services early on Sunday, November 2.


The events affect these routes:

Hamilton Street Railway2 Barton, 4 Bayfront, 11 Parkdale.

York Region Transit8 Kennedy.


The events are: Angus Glen Half Marathon; Road 2 Hope Hamilton Marathon.


Hamilton

Road 2 Hope Hamilton Marathon

The City of Hamilton closes the northbound lanes of the Red Hill Creek Parkway between Mud Street and Barton Street East on Sunday morning to accommodate the participants in the event, which supports CityKidz and The Joy and Hope of Haïti.

Participants also share the road with other traffic on

  • Barton Street East between the Parkway and Woodward Avenue;
  • Woodward Avenue; and
  • Beach Boulevard between Woodward Avenue / Van Wagner’s Beach Road and Veterans Park.

The marathon affects HSR bus services.

2 Barton:

Until about 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, passengers should expect delays, when buses travel along Barton Street East between the Red Hill Valley Parkway and Woodward Avenue.

4 Bayfront:

Until about 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, passengers should expect delays, when buses travel along Barton Street East and Woodward Avenue.

11 Parkdale

Until 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, northbound buses start their trips at Valley Park, then proceed:

north-, west- and southbound along Paramount Drive;
southward along Winterberry Drive;
eastward along Mud Street West;
northward along Upper Centennial Parkway and Centennial Parkway South;
westward along King Street East; and then
south- and westward along Greenhill Avenue to Mount Albion Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Mount Albion.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

Until about 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, passengers should also expect delays, when buses travel along Woodward Avenue and Beach Boulevard.


Markham

Angus Glen Half Marathon

The Region of York close Kennedy Road between Elgin Mills Road and 16th Avenue and the Town of Markham will close parts of Prospectors Road, The Fairways and Angus Glen Boulevard to accommodate the half marathon and 10k run on Sunday morning. The event supports the Markham - Stouffville Hospital Foundation.

YRT will detour bus service during the event.

8 Kennedy

From 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, southbound buses start their trips at William Berczy Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive East, then proceed:

eastward along Major Mackenzie;
southward along The Bridle Walk; and then
westward along 16th Avenue to Kennedy Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Kennedy.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Kennedy Road and 16th Avenue, then detour:

eastward along 16th;
northward along The Bridle Walk;
westward along Castlemore Avenue; and then
northward along William Berczy Boulevard to Major Mackenzie Drive East,
ending their trips.
