Bay Street closed after glass falls into intersection

Update: 6:44 p.m. — citytv News reports that the intersection re-opened early this afternoon.

CP24, CityNews and other media are reporting that the Toronto Police Service has closed off the area around Bay Street and Adelaide Street West because pieces of broken glass have fallen into the intersection.

At 8:30 a.m. today, a cable from a crane broke, smashing six glass panels on the 30th floor of the Bay-Adelaide Centre — still under construction — resulting in glass debris falling into the street.

Toronto Police have closed down these streets:

  • Adelaide Street West, between York and Yonge Streets;
  • Bay Street, between Queen and King Streets West; and
  • Richmond Street West between York and Yonge Streets.

Passengers traveling on the TTC’s 6 Bay bus should expect delays and detours.
