GO Transit Cancels Six Trains Due to Storm

Worsening winter conditions across southern Ontario has forced GO Transit to cancel six GO Trains in order to try and ensure reliable service through the afternoon rush hour. Four of the six trains are on the Lakeshore West run between Union and Oakville, while the remaining two are on the Lakeshore East run between Union and Pickering. Alternate trains have been brought in to carry displaced passengers, although commuters should expect crowding. The cancellations are as follows:

  • The 4:13 p.m. trip from Union to Oakville is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 4:10 p.m. trip from Union to Burlington will be held at Union until 4:13 p.m. and will be adjusted to make all stops
  • The 4:43 p.m. trip from Union to Oakville is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 4:47 p.m. trip from Union to Burlington will be adjusted to make all stops
  • The 5:13 p.m. trip from Union to Oakville is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 5:19 p.m. trip from Union to Burlington will be adjusted to make all stops
  • The 5:30 p.m. trip from Oakville to Union is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 5:50 p.m. trip from Burlington to Union will be adjusted to make all stops
  • The 5:33 p.m. trip from Union to Pickering is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 5:53 p.m. trip from Union to Oshawa will be adjusted to make all stops
  • The 6:25 p.m. trip from Pickering to Union is CANCELLED

    • Next scheduled trip: The 6:41 p.m. trip from Oshawa to Union will operate as scheduled, making all stops

All traffic, be it car or public transit, is being slowed by heavy snowfall, so commuters are warned to leave yourselves extra time to get where you need to go and be prepared for delays. GO Transit has already warned commuters to leave early, and a number of businesses and institutions are already shutting down and sending their workers home.
