2008 New Year’s Eve Celebration

The City of Brampton is closing

• Main Streets North and South between Theatre Lane and Clarence Street,
• Queen Streets East and West between Theatre Lane / Chapel Street and George Street and
• Wellington Streets East and West between George Street South and Chapel Street

today to accommodate the City’s annual year-end event.

Brampton Transit and GO Transit are detouring bus service this afternoon and evening during the event.

Brampton Transit

All buses operate to Brampton GO Station on Church Street West instead of the Downtown Brampton Transit Terminal at Nelson Street West and George Street North. It’s also operating special shuttle buses to carry passengers from four areas of the City to downtown Brampton to enjoy the festivities. Service is free on all Brampton Transit routes after 7:30 p.m. and many routes operate later.

Bramalea Transit Centre Shuttle

Westbound buses leave the Bramalea Transit Centre every 30 minutes from 5:30 until 11:30 p.m. Eastbound buses leave Brampton GO Station every 30 minutes from 6 until 11 p.m.

25 Edenbrook

After 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Church Street West, then detour:

westward along Church,
into Brampton GO Station, stopping at the “Kiss ‘n’ Ride” facility,
ending their trips.

Flower City Community Campus Shuttle

Citytv’s New Year’s Eve Bash

Transit Toronto readers reported that the City of Toronto closed parts of Queen Street West on the evening of New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31 and early in the morning of New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1 to accommodate the event.

The TTC detoured streetcars during the event.

501 Queen

Eastbound cars operated along their regular route to Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detoured:

southward along Spadina;
eastward along King Streets West and East; and then
northward along Church Street to Queen Street East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Westbound cars reversed the routing.
