YRT revises service, February 15



York Region Transit will introduce new routes and revise other services, starting Sunday, February 15. Since many of the changes affect routes operating Mondays to Fridays only, and since Monday, February 16 is Family Day, a statutory holiday, many of the changes do not affect service until Tuesday, February 17.


Specifically, YRT will: introduce new routes; revise current routes; shorten current routes; increase service along current routes; decrease service along current routes and adjust the schedules of current routes.


The changes affect these routes: Viva pink; Viva purple; 3 Thornhill - York U; 4 Major Mackenzie; 8 Kennedy; 9 Ninth Line; 12 Pine Valley; 20 Jane - Concord; 22 King City; 32 Aurora South; 55 Davis Drive; 55B Davis Drive; 87 Langstaff - Maple; 98 Yonge North; 99 Yonge South; 220 Keswick GO Shuttle; 303 Bur Oak Express; 401 Brother Andre High School Special; 414 Bill Crothers / Unionville High School Special; 465 St. Joan of Arc High School Special.


Introduce new routes

220 Keswick GO Shuttle

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT buses carry passengers between the Keswick community and East Gwillimbury GO Station.

Buses operate two southbound trips during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. They leave the new carpool lot at the south-west corner of Woodbine and Glenwoods Avenues at 6 and 7 a.m., then proceed:

southward along Woodbine; and then
westward along Green Lane East to East Gwillimbury GO Station,
arriving at the station at 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.
(The buses do not stop between the carpool lot and the station.)

Buses operate two northbound trips during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. They leave East Gwillimbury GO Station at 5:53 and 7:13 p.m., then proceed:

eastward along Green Lane East;
northward along Woodbine Avenue;
westward along Ravenshoe Road;
northward along Leslie Street / Queensway South; and then
eastward along Glenwoods Avenue
to the carpool lot at Woodbine Avenue, arriving at 6:23 and 7:45 p.m.
(The buses do not stop between the station and the carpool lot.)

All buses operating on the 220 Keswick GO Shuttle route meet GO Transit’s 65 Barrie trains at East Gwillimbury Station. All passengers can use YRT’s Ride to GO for 50¢ program. Passengers holding valid GO tickets or passes can ride the shuttle buses for just 50 cents.

401 Brother Andre High School Special

Starting Tuesday, February 17, a southbound bus leaves Brother Andre Catholic High School at 2:40 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and proceeds:

eastward along 16th Avenue;
southward along the Old Markham Bypass;
eastward along Morning Dove Drive;
southward along Cornell Rouge Boulevard;
westward along White’s Hill Avenue;
southward along Bur Oak Avenue;
westward along Church Street,
passing Markham - Stouffville Hospital;
southward along Ninth Line and the Box Grove Bypass;
eastward along 14th Avenue;
southward along Riverwalk Drive;
northward along the Box Grove Bypass;
westward along Rouge Bank Drive;
north- and westward along Russel Jarvis Drive;
south- and eastward along Rouge Bank;
southward along Legacy Drive; and then
westward along 14th Avenue to McCowan Road,
ending its trip.

During Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, buses operating on the 2A 14th Avenue and 85 Rutherford / 16th Avenue routes serve parts of this route and also passengers traveling to Brother Andre Catholic High School.

Revise current routes

12 Pine Valley

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT operates two southbound and two northbound buses along Four Valley Drive during Monday-to-Friday rush hours.

Southbound buses leaving Vaughan Mills Terminal at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays operate along their regular route to Edgely Boulevard and the north intersection of Four Valley Drive, and then proceed:

west-, south- and eastward along Four Valley Drive to Edgely,
resuming their regular route southward along Edgeley.

Northbound buses leaving Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West at 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. reverse this routing.

22 King City

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT revises the route to eliminate a difficult left turn from eastbound Bond Crescent to northbound Yonge Street that delays bus operations. Buses no longer operate along Bond Crescent between Littlegarden and Yonge Streets.

Southbound buses operate along their current route to Yonge Street and Bond Crescent, then proceed:

southward along Yonge;
westward along Estate Garden Drive; and then
northward along Littlegarden Stree to Bond Crescent,
resuming their current route westward along Bond.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

Shorten routes

414 Bill Crothers / Unionville High School Special

Starting Tuesday, February 17, buses no longer operate along Ninth Line and Church Street to Markham - Stouffville Hospital. YRT also interlines buses operating along the route with buses operating along the 9 Ninth Line route.

A southbound bus leaves Stouffville GO Station at 7:05 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, as currently, but operates:

westward along Main Street;
northward along Ninth Line;
westward along Elm Road;
northward along Glad Park Avenue;
eastward along Millard Avenue and Hemlock Drive
southward along Tenth Line;
westward along Hoover Park Drive;
northward along Ninth Line; and then
into Parkview Village, arriving at 7:23 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

At Parkview Village, the same bus will continue southward along Ninth Line on the regular 9 Ninth Line route to Markham - Stouffville Hospital.

A northbound bus operating on the 9 Ninth Line route arrives at Ninth Line and Millard Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, then continues along the 414 Bill Crothers / Unionville High School Special route.

The bus proceeds:

eastward along Millard Avenue and Hemlock Drive
southward along Tenth Line;
westward along Hoover Park Drive to Ninth Line,
arriving at 4:28 p.m. and ending its trip.

55 Davis Drive

Starting Sunday, February 15, buses no longer operate through Upper Canada Mall after 10 p.m. each night.

YRT also increases service along the 55B branch and decreases service along the main branch of the route.

Increase service along current routes

303 Bur Oak Express

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT operates a bus along a new trip leaving Bur Oak Avenue and McCowan Road at 7 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. It also operates a bus along a new trip leaving Finch Bus Terminal at 5:20 p.m. YRT also adjusts the schedule of the route.

55B Davis Drive

Starting Tuesday, February 17, a westbound bus operates on a new westbound trip, leaving the 404 Town Centre at 3:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to accommodate passengers traveling from Huron Heights Secondary School.

(The westbound bus that currently leaves the 404 Town Centre at 3:25 p.m. operates along the main 55 Davis Drive route and not along the 55B branch.)

Decrease service along current routes

55 Davis Drive

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the bus that currently leaves the 404 Town Centre at 3:25 p.m. operates along the 55B Davis Drive branch instead of along the main route.

YRT also shortens the route after 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Adjust the schedules of current routes

32 Aurora South

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the southbound bus that currently leaves Yonge Street and Murray Drive at 7:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves four minutes earlier at 7:36 a.m.

303 Bur Oak Express

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the bus that currently leaves Finch Terminal at 5:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves five minutes later at 5:35 p.m.

YRT also increases service along the route.

20 Jane - Concord

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the northbound bus that currently leaves York University at 9:48 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves four minutes later at 9:52 a.m. The bus arrives at Interchange Way and Highway 7 at 10:02 a.m., to help passengers wanting to transfer to or from an eastbound bus operating on the 77 Highway 7 - Centre route.

8 Kennedy

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT adjusts the schedule of the southbound bus that leaves Kennedy Road and Major Mackenzie Drive at 3:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to help passengers transfering to and from buses operating on the 1 Highway 7 route at Kennedy and Highway 7.

87 Langstaff - Maple

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT adjusts the Monday-to-Friday rush hour schedules to improve service to passengers traveling to or from Langstaff and Rutherford GO Stations, Maple High School, Langstaff Secondary School and Stephen Lewis Secondary School.

4 Major Mackenzie

Starting Sunday, February 15, YRT adjusts the schedule of the main route so that all buses operating on the main 4 Major Mackenzie route start and end their trips at Jane Street and Springside Drive instead of Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street.

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the eastbound bus operating on the main 4 route that currently leaves Major Mackenzie and Jane at 9:17 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves three minutes later at 9:20 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the eastbound bus operating on the 4A branch that currently leaves Major Mackenzie and Weston Road at 3:03 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves five minutes later at 3:08 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT adjusts the schedules of westbound buses operating along the 4A branch during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. All buses leave Markham - Stouffville Hospital at the same time as they do currently, but may arrive at all other points along the route at different times than currently.

9 Ninth Line

Starting Tuesday, February 17, northbound buses end their trips at Ninth Line and Millard Avenue instead of Elm Road and Glad Park Avenue.

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the northbound bus leaving Markham - Stouffville Hospital at 6:01 p.m. Mondays to Fridays will leave four minutes later at 6:05 p.m. to help passengers wanting to transfer from buses operating along the 303 Bur Oak Express route.

Starting Tuesday, February 17, YRT interlines two Monday-to-Friday buses with buses operating along the 414 Bill Crothers / Unionville High School Special route.

465 St. Joan of Arc High School Special

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the northbound bus that leaves Keele Street and Knightswood Drive at 7:50 a.m. leaves five minutes earlier at 7:45 a.m. The bus arrives at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School at 8 a.m.

Viva pink

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the southbound bus that currently leaves Unionville GO Station at 7:10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves seven minutes later at 7:17 p.m. Adjusting the schedule helps passengers wanting to transfer from GO Transit’s last northbound train operating along the 71 Stouffville route.

Viva purple

Starting Sunday, February 15, the eastbound bus that currently leaves York University at 12:06 a.m. seven days a week leaves six minutes later at 12:12 a.m. Adjusting the schedule helps passengers wanting to transfer from the last bus operating along the Viva orange route each day.

98 Yonge North

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the southbound bus that currently leaves Green Lane and Yonge Street at 8:55 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves five minutes later at 9 a.m.

99 Yonge South

Starting Tuesday, February 17, the southbound bus that currently leaves Bernard Terminal at 5:20 a.m. leaves five minutes later at 5:25 a.m. Adjusting the schedule helps passengers transfering from a southbound bus operating on the 98 Yonge North route.


Interlining refers to transit agencies sharing resources — drivers and vehicles — among two or more bus routes with a common terminal. A single bus may complete its route to the terminal, then operate along another route before returning to serve the stops along its original route.
