Guelph Transit revises late-night service this week



Starting Tuesday, March 2 (or early in the morning of Wednesday, March 3), Guelph Transit is revising the routes for two of its late-night shuttle services for passengers traveling from the University of Guelph.

The changes affect these routes: Clairfields - Edinburgh Loop; Scottsdale - Kortright Loop; West Hanlon Loop; and West Hanlon - Kortright Loop.


Specifically, GT is introducing new routes and canceling current routes.


Introduce new routes

Clairfields - Edinburgh Loop

Starting Tuesday, March 3 (early Wednesday, March 4) from 12:15 until 3:45 a.m., buses leave the University Centre every 30 minutes and proceed:

westward along Stone Road East;
southward along Gordon Street;
eastward along Clairfields Road East to the traffic circle; then
westward along Clairfields;
northward along Gordon;
west- and northward along Edinburgh Road South;
eastward along Youngman Drive;
north- and eastward along Harvard Road;
southward along Rickson Avenue;
eastward along Kortright Road West;
northward along Gordon; and then
eastward along Stone and into the university campus.

Buses operate along this route Tuesdays to Saturdays (early Wednesdays to early Sundays) only.

The new route replaces the current Scottsdale - Kortright Loop and West Hanlon Loop routes. By operating buses along this route, Guelph Transit introduces late-night transit service along Gordon Street between Kortright Road and Clairfields Drive, Clairfields Drive East, Edinburgh Road South between Gordon Street and Youngman Drive and Rickson Avenue between Oak Street and Kortright Road West.

West Hanlon - Kortright Loop

Starting Tuesday, March 3 (early Wednesday, March 4) from 12:15 until 3:15 a.m., buses leave the University Centre every hour and proceed:

westward along Stone Roads East and West;
northward along Edinburgh Road South;
westward along Wilsonview Avenue;
southward along Scottsdale Drive;
west- and northward along Janefield Avenue;
west- and southward along College Avenue West;
eastward along Stone West;
southward along Woodland Glen Drive;
eastward along Downey Road and Kortright Road West;
north- and eastward along Ironwood Road;
southward along Scottsdale Drive;
eastward along Kortright West;
northward along Gordon Street; and then
eastward along Stone East and into the university campus.

Buses operate along this route Tuesdays to Saturdays (early Wednesdays to early Sundays) only.

The new route replaces parts of the former Scottsdale - Kortright Loop and West Hanlon Loop routes. By operating buses along this new route, Guelph Transit introduces late-night transit service along Janefield Avenue, College Avenue West between Old Hanlon Road and Devere Drive and Scottsfield Drive between Ironwood Drive and Kortright Road West.


Cancel current routes

Scottsfield - Kortright Loop

Saturday, February 28 (early Sunday, March 1) was the last day that buses operated along this route.

Starting Tuesday, March 3 (early Wednesday, March 4), Guelph Transit buses operating along the new Clairfields - Edinburgh Loop route replace the previous late-night service along Rickson Avenue between Oak Street and Harvard Road, Harvard Road and Youngman Drive (but buses now operate in the reverse direction along these streets). GT buses operating along the new West Hanlon - Kortright Loop route replace the previous late-night service along Kortright Road East between Scottsfield Drive and Gordon Street. They also replace the previous late-night service along Ironwood Road between Scottsfield Drive (northern intersection) and Kortright Road West (but buses operate in the reverse direction).

Guelph Transit no longer operates buses along Edinburgh Road South between Youngman Drive and Stone Road West and between Wilsonview Avenue and College Avenue West, Scottsdale Drive between Janefield Avenue and Ironwood Drive or Ironwood Drive between Scottsdale Drive and Kortright Road West (eastern intersection).

West Hanlon Loop

Saturday, February 28 (early Sunday, March 1) was the last day that buses operated along this route.

Starting Tuesday, March 3 (early Wednesday, March 4), Guelph Transit buses operating along the new West Hanlon - Kortright Loop route replace the previous late-night service along Edinburgh Road South between Stone Road West and Wilsonview Avenue, College Avenue West between Janefield Avenue and Old Hanlon Road and between Devere Drive and Stone Road West, Stone West between College and Woodland Glen Drive and between the Hanlon Parkway and Edinburgh Road, Woodland Glen between College and Kortright Road West and Kortright West between Woodland Glen and the Hanlon.

GT no longer provides late-night service along Edinburgh Road South between Youngman Drive and Stone Road West, College Avenue West between Edinburgh Road North and Janefield Avenue, Old Hanlon Road, Fleming Road, Devere Drive, Kortright Road West between Woodland Glen and Niska Road, Niska Road, Ptarmigan Drive, Pheasant Run Drive, Downey Road, the Hanlon Parkway and Stone Road West between the Hanlon and Edinburgh Road South.


Guelph Transit continues to operate late-night service along the North London - Elizabeth Loop and the Downtown Shuttle services on the same route and schedule as previously.
