The city celebrates the 175th anniversary of its incorporation with much less fanfare than its sesquicentennial enjoyed back in 1984, but events are planned for today. Mike Filey has notified me that he will be narrating some old silent films showing Toronto in the early years of the 20th century. “There’s an especially good sequence showing the TTC’s Hillcrest shop (complete with Witts and Former TRC cars) and some Gray Coach operations in the late ’20s.”
There will be two screenings, one at noon and another at 2:30, both at City Hall in Committee Room 1. Other events are planned for this day as well and are listed on the City of Toronto’s website.
