HSR revises Cannon Street detour, April 12

Starting about Sunday, April 12, the City of Hamilton will start the second phase of its project to rebuild the road, replace the watermains, build storm sewers and rehabilitate the sanitary sewers along Cannon Street East. The City will re-open Cannon Street East between Sherman and Gage Avenues North, while continuing to close the section between Gage and Ottawa Street North.

The Hamilton Street Railway will revise its detour for buses operating along the 3 Cannon route during this phase.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Cannon Street East and Ottawa Street North, then detour:

southward along Ottawa;
westward along Main and King Streets East; and then
northward along Gage Avenue North to Cannon,
resuming their regular route westward along Cannon.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Gage Avenue North and Cannon Street East, then detour:

northward along Gage;
eastward along Barton Street East; and then
southward along Ottawa Street North to Cannon,
resuming their regular route eastward along Cannon.

The first phase of the project started on Sunday, March 29 and the second phase will likely continue until Sunday, June 27.
