City to buy land for Finch West Station

The urban affairs journal Novae Res Urbis reports that the City of Toronto is buying several properties in the area of Finch Avenue West and Keele Street. The City needs the land to build the future Finch West Station, as it extends the TTC’s 01 Yonge - University - Spadina subway to Vaughan.

Ads in today’s Toronto Star officially notify the public that the City intends to expropriate part of 1150 Finch Avenue West and 3933, 3939 and 3975 Keele Street.

On Wednesday, April 15, the City’s Government Management Committee will vote whether the City should buy vacant land that York University owns on the southwest corner of Murray Ross Parkway and Keele Street. If the City buys the land, it would relocate the fire hall at 3965 Keele Street to that corner and use the current fire hall site for the new subway station.
