Don Valley Parkway closed, buses detour
this weekend



The City of Toronto is closing the Don Valley Parkway from 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 27 to conduct its annual spring maintenance.

Closing the Parkway will affect bus service on GO Transit’s 65 Barrie and 71 Stouffville routes. Although the buses serve all regular stops, passengers should expect some delays in service.

Southbound buses from Lincolnville GO Station, Newmarket GO Bus Terminal and Uxbridge operate along their regular routes to Highways 407 and 404 and then continue:

westward along Highway 407;
southward along Highway 427;
eastward along the F. G. Gardiner Expressway to York Street;
eastward along Harbour Street; and then
northward along Bay Street and into the Union Station GO Bus Terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses to Lincolnville GO Station, Newmarket GO Bus Terminal and Uxbridge start their trips from the terminal, then proceed:

southward along Yonge Street;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard West and the F. G. Gardiner Expressway;
northward along Highway 427; and then
eastward along Highway 407 to Highway 404,
resuming their regular routes.


Closing the Parkway may also affect some early-morning and late-night bus-only service in the Lakeshore East corridor.

90C Newcastle - Union

The eastbound buses that leave Union Station at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 and at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 26 and Monday, April 27 likely operate:

southward along Yonge Street;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard West;
northward along York Street, University Avenue, Queen’s Park Crescent East, Queen’s Park and Avenue Road;
eastward along Lonsdale Road;
northward along Oriole Parkway;
westward along Oxton Avenue;
northward along Avenue Road; and then
eastward along Highway 401 to the Don Valley Parkway,
resuming their regular route eastward along Highway 401.

90B Oshawa - Union

The westbound buses leaving Oshawa GO Station at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, April 25, Sunday, April 26 and Monday, April 27 and 5:40 a.m. Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 likely operate along their regular route to Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway, then continue:

westward along Highway 401;
southward along Avenue Road;
eastward along Oxton Avenue;
southward along Oriole Parkway;
westward along Lonsdale Road;
southward along Avenue Road, Queen’s Park, Queen’s Park Crescent West, University Avenue and York Street;
eastward along Harbour Street; and then
northward along Bay Street to the Union Station GO Bus Terminal.


While the Parkway is closed, City work crews will:

  • clean the catchbasins to make sure that they drain properly;
  • mark pavement and maintain signs;
  • repair guardrails and asphalt;
  • survey the pavement to evaluate its condition;
  • maintain closed-circuit TV cameras;
  • maintain hydro transmission structures;
  • install RESCU vehicle detectors; and
  • sweep and remove litter.
