Weekend events affect transit, April 26



Special events in Aurora, Guelph and Markham affect transit services this Sunday.


The events affect these routes:

Guelph Transit51 Gordon; 52 University / Kortright; 54 Arkell

York Region TransitViva blue; Viva purple; 1 Highway 7; 85 Rutherford / 16th Avenue; 98 Yonge South.


The events include: the Billy Taylor Memorial Run; the Markham Stouffville Hospital Legacy Run and; the St. Andrew’s College Cadet Corps Freedom of the Town Parade.


Aurora

The Region of York and the Town of Aurora are closing parts of Yonge Street between St. John’s Sideroad and Wellington Street to accommodate the annual St. Andrew’s College Cadet Corps Freedom of the Town Parade on Sunday.

York Region Transit is detouring bus service during the event.

Viva blue

From 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge Street and St. John’s Sideroad, then detour:

eastward along St. John’s; and then
south- and westward along Industrial Parkway to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Yonge.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

98 Yonge North

From 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge Street and St. John’s Sideroad, then detour:

eastward along St. John’s;
southward along Industrial Parkway; and then
westward along Wellington Street East to Yonge,
resuming their regular route southward along Yonge.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.


Guelph

Billy Taylor Memorial Run

The University of Guelph is closing parts of its campus, including East Ring Road, South Ring Road and the University Centre on Sunday morning to accommodate the annual run.

Guelph Transit is detouring buses during the event.

54 Arkell

Until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Gordon Street and South Ring Road, then continue northward along Gordon. (Buses do not enter the university campus.)

Outbound buses reverse this routing.

(Buses don’t enter the university campus during the run.)

51 Gordon

Until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Gordon Street and Stone Road, then continue northward along Gordon.

Outbound buses reverse this routing.

(Buses don’t enter the university campus during the run.)

52 University / Kortright

Until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Stone Road West and Gordon Street, then detour:


northward along Gordon to South Ring Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Gordon.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Stone Road West and Gordon Street, then detour:

southward along Gordon to Stone Road,
resuming their regular route westward along Stone Road West.

Markham

The Town of Markham is closing

  • Bur Oak Avenue between White’s Hill Avenue and Highway 7,
  • Church Street between Bur Oak Avenue and Country Glen Drive,

and other streets in the Cornell area to accommodate the annual Markham Stouffville Hospital Legacy Run on Sunday.

York Region Transit is detouring bus service during the event.

1 Highway 7

From 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, westbound buses start their trips on Church Street, just west of Ninth Line, then proceed:

eastward along Church; and then
southward along Ninth to Highway 7,
resuming their regular route westward along Highway 7.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Church Street, just west of Ninth Line.

(Buses don’t enter the hospital area during the run.)

85 Rutherford / 16th Avenue

From 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, westbound buses start their trips on Church Street, just west of Ninth Line, then proceed:

eastward along Church; and then
northward along Ninth to 16th Avenue,
resuming their regular route westward along 16th.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Ninth Line and Church Street, then detour:

southward along Ninth;
westward along Highway 7;
northward along Wooten Way; and then
eastward along Church Street to just west of Ninth Line,
ending their trips.

(Buses don’t enter the hospital area during the run.)

Viva purple

From 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, westbound buses start their trips on Church Street, just west of Ninth Line, then proceed:

eastward along Church to Ninth Line,
resuming their regular route westward along Highway 7.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Highway 7 and Wooten Way, then proceed:


northward along Wooten; and then
eastward along Church Street to just west of Ninth Line,
ending their trips.

Outbound buses travel away from downtown Guelph.
