Update — 3:44 p.m.: Buses have resumed service along GO’s 16 Hamilton via QEW Express route.
Update — 3:26 p.m.: The Gardiner has re-opened.
The Toronto Police Service closed the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway near Jameson Avenue this afternoon around 12:30 p.m. today while officers are investigating an incident. The roadway remains closed.
The Ontario Provincial Police has also closed the eastbound Queen Elizabeth Way at Dixie Road because of a series traffic accident there.
GO Transit has suspended all service on the 16 Hamilton via QEW Express route until the Gardiner and Queen Elizabeth Way have re-opened. Passengers traveling between Hamilton and Toronto should use the 01 Lakeshore West trains and 18 Hamilton - Aldershot buses to complete their trips.
Buses operating on other GO Transit routes such as the 21 Milton and 31 Guelph - Georgetown routes — are detouring — probably along Lake Shore Boulevard or the Queensway — while the expressways are closed.
(Note that some Transit Toronto readers reported earlier that construction on the Queensway at South Kingsway may cause some delays.)
GO is already detouring buses today because the City has closed the Don Valley Parkway for the annual spring maintenance.
