Update — November 14: The full busway opens on Sunday, November 22.
Update — September 5: The City and TTC is opening just one part of the busway — the north-south roadway between York Boulevard and Murray Ross Parkway on York University’s Keele Campus — tomorrow, Sunday, September 7.
The supplementary agenda for tomorrow’s meeting of the Toronto Transit Commission lists a staff report recommending changes to bus routes when the City of Toronto and the TTC open the 6-kilometer-long busway between York University and Downsview Station in September.
The report proposes that the TTC revise the routes of its 104 Faywood; 105 Dufferin North; 117 Alness; and 196 York University Rocket services.
The TTC and City expect to open the new bus-only roadway in September. The TTC proposes to reroute its buses on Sunday, September 6, so the roadway will likely open then.
The busway project includes:
- building new bus entrances and exits onto William R. Allen Road to and from Downsview Station;
- converting the curb lanes on Allen Road and Dufferin Street south of the hydro corridor to full-time bus-only lanes;
- building a new east-west bus-only roadway in the hydro corridor north of Finch Avenue between Keele and Dufferin Streets; and
- building a new north-south bus-only roadway on York University lands between Murray Ross Parkway and York Boulevard.
