City replacing watermains along Dundas West;
TTC detouring streetcars, starting June 21



Update — May 2, 2010, 5 p.m.: Construction ends and regular streetcar service resumes on Sunday, May 9.


Update — April 6, 2010, 6:12 a.m.: The City resumes work on the watermain project near Dovercourt Road — and the TTC is again detouring streetcars — on Monday, April 12.


Update — December 19, 10 a.m.: Regular service has resumed along the entire route between Dundas West and Broadview Stations.


Update — December 17: The City is connecting the new watermain overnight December 18 and 19, so the TTC is detouring the cars west of Ossington Avenue and replacing the streetcars with buses again.


Update — November 10: The City finished part of its project to replace the watermains yesterday, Monday, November 9. City contractors continue to work on the project — but only west of Ossington Avenue. The TTC has resumed regular streetcar service along Dundas Street West between Ossington and Spadina Avenues. Buses continue to replace the streetcars until Friday, November 14.


Update — September 6: The City is extending its watermain project further east along Dundas Street West — between Bathurst Street and Spadina Avenue — so the TTC is revising the detour on Tuesday, September 8.


Starting Monday, June 22, City of Toronto contractors start to work on a project to replace the watermains along Dundas Street West between Dovercourt Road and Bathurst Street.

To make room for the construction, the TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 505 Dundas route and replacing the cars with buses, starting Sunday, June 21. It will also detour streetcars operating along the 506 Carlton route.

Starting Sunday, June 21, streetcars operate between Dundas West and Main Street Stations.

Eastbound cars star their trips in Dundas West Station, then proceed:

south- and westward along Dundas Street West to Howard Park Avenue,
resuming their regular route westward along Dundas West.

505 Dundas shuttle buses replace streetcar service along Howard Park Avenue.

Streetcars operate along their regular route between Dundas West and Main Street Stations.

Starting Sunday, June 21, streetcars operate between Bathurst and Broadview Stations.

Eastbound cars start their trips in Bathurst Station, then proceed:

Southward along Bathurst Street to Dundas Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Dundas West.

Westbound cars reverse this detour routing.

506 Carlton streetcars replace the 505 cars between Dundas West Station and College Street. 505 Dundas shuttle buses replace the streetcars along Dundas Street West between Howard Park Avenue and Bathurst Street.

Starting Sunday, June 21, buses operate between Keele Station and Wolseley Loop.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Keele Station, then proceed:

southward along Keele Street and Parkside Drive;
eastward along Howard Park Avenue and Dundas Street West; and then
southward along Bathurst Street to Wolseley Loop (just north of Queen Street West),
ending their trips.

Westbound cars reverse the routing.

Buses replace 506 Carlton streetcars along Howard Park Avenue. They replace 505 Dundas streetcars along Dundas Street West between Howard Park and Bathurst Street.
