Reconfiguring the York - Bay - Yonge interchange,
Open house, June 24

Update — September 18: The City has rescheduled the open house for Wednesday, September 24.

Update — June 24: The City canceled the open house because of the City of Toronto labour disruption.

The City of Toronto is studying how to reconfigure the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway’s interchange with York, Bay and Yonge Streets. It’s looking particularly at the off-ramp from the eastbound expressway to York, Bay and Yonge Streets and the on-ramp from Bay Street to the eastbound Expressway.

An important goal of this project is to improve public areas, especially pedestrian conditions around York and Harbour Streets. Reconfiguring the on- and off-ramps might also improve public access to park space in the neighbourhood and reduce the amount of traffic on local streets.

The City is holding a public meeting to present the problem, opportunities and possible solutions to the public. City staff will make a presentation and can also answer your questions about the project. You’ll have an opportunity to submit any comments or concerns on the possible solutions.

Wednesday, June 24
From 6 until 9 p.m. (Presentation at 7:30 p.m.)
Harbourfront Community Centre, 627 Queens Quay West
(just east of Bathurst Street).

Any proposal to redesign this interchange has direct impact on transit services. GO Transit buses — particularly those connecting downtown Toronto with communities to the west, east and north of Toronto — operate along the interchange to and from the Union Station GO Bus Terminal. Any construction project in this area also affects several TTC bus and streetcar services.

The City and WATERFRONToronto are also studying proposals to redesign the Gardiner and Lake Shore Boulevard East, just east of the interchange.
