Last week, the Province of Ontario and Metrolinx awarded a $1.2 million contract to build a new carpool lot in Grimsby.
The contractors will finish the project in September, just in time for GO Transit’s new Monday-to-Friday bus service between Burlington GO Station and Niagara Falls, which GO has scheduled to start in October.
The new lot at South Service Road and Casablanca Boulevard, (just south of the Queen Elizabeth Way) includes:
- about 200 parking spots, with room to build 100 more spaces;
- a bus loop with two bus bays and platforms;
- a heated bus shelter;
- a bicycle rack; and
- a “kiss and ride” drop-off area.
The Town of Grimsby has no local transit service.
