Don River bridge construction disrupts streetcar service,
August 10 to 20



Update — August 17: Streetcar service across the bridge does not resume until 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 20.


Next week, the TTC is repairing the streetcar tracks along the bridge carrying Queen Street East across the Don River.

During the construction, the TTC can operate buses across the bridge but must detour streetcars. The TTC is also operating shuttle buses to replace the regular streetcar service.


The construction affects these routes: 301 Queen overnight; 301 Queen overnight shuttle bus; 303 Don Mills overnight; 501 Queen; 501 / 504 Queen / King shuttle bus; 502 Downtowner; 503 Kingston Rd overnight; 504 King.


303 Don Mills overnight

Buses operate along their regular route.

502 Downtowner

Buses replaced streetcars along this route, starting Monday, August 4, so the buses continue to operate along their current route. The buses continue to detour around construction at Queen Street East and Church Street.

504 King

From 7 a.m. on Monday, August 10 until 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, south- and westbound cars operate along their regular route to Broadview Avenue and Dundas Street East, then detour:

westward along Dundas East; and then
southward along Parliament Street to King Street East,
resuming their regular route westward along King East.

East- and northbound cars reverse this routing.

Shuttle buses replace the streetcars along Queen Street East between Broadview Avenue and King Street East and King Street East between Queen East and Parliament Street.

503 Kingston Rd tripper

Buses replaced streetcars along this route, starting Monday, August 4, so the buses continue to operate along their current route.

501 Queen

The TTC is detouring streetcars around both this project and another ongoing project at Queen Street East and Church Street.

From 7 a.m. on Monday, August 10 until 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, westbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue, then detour:

northward along Broadview;
westward along Dundas Street East;
southward along Parliament Street;
westward along King Street East;
northward along Church Street;
westward along Richmond Street East; and then
northward along Victoria Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Victoria Street, then detour:

southward along Victoria;
eastward along Adelaide Street East;
southward along Church Street;
eastward along King Street East;
northward along Parliament Street;
eastward along Dundas Street East; and then
southward along Broadview Avenue to Queen East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Shuttle buses replace the streetcars along Queen Street East between Broadview Avenue and Parliament Street.

westward along Queen East to Sherbourne Street, ending their trips.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Queen Street East at Sherbourne Street, then proceed:

southward along Sherbourne;
eastward along King and Queen Streets East;
northward along Broadview Avenue;
eastward along Dundas Street East; and then
southward along Carlaw Avenue to Queen East,
ending their trips.

501 / 504 Queen / King shuttle bus B

From 7 a.m. on Monday, August 10 until 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, westbound buses start their trips on Carlaw Avenue at Queen Street East, then proceed:

northward along Carlaw;
westward along Dundas Street East;
southward along Broadview Avenue;
westward along Queen and King Streets East; and then
northward along Sherbourne Street to Queen East,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Sherbourne Street at Queen Street East, then proceed:

eastward along Queen Street East to Carlaw Avenue,
ending their trips.

301 Queen overnight shuttle bus

From about 2 until 5 a.m. between Tuesday, August 11 and Monday, August 14, westbound buses start their trips at Pape and Eastern Avenues, then proceed:

westward along Eastern;
northward along Carlaw Avenue;
eastward along Queen Street East to Jarvis Street,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Queen Street East and Jarvis Street, then proceed:

northward along Jarvis;
eastward along Shuter Street;
southward along Sherbourne Street;
eastward along Queen East; and then
southward along Pape Avenue to Eastern Avenue,
ending their trips.
