TTC detours buses during St. George Station construction,
starting August 31

The TTC is closing the bus terminal at St. George Station again and that means minor detours for buses heading to and from the station.

For about two weeks, starting Monday, August 31, the TTC is closing the station terminal, presumably for construction or repairs at the station while buses loop on nearby streets.

From Monday, August 31 until Monday, September 14, buses operatng toward St. George Station operate along their regular route to Bedford Road and Prince Arthur Avenue, then detour:

southward along Bedford to the passenger entrance to / exit from St. George Station,
ending their trips.

Buses operating away from St. George Station start their trips at the Bedford Road entrance to / exit from St. George Station, south of Prince Arthur Avenue, then proceed:

southward along Bedford;
westward along Bloor Street West;
northward along St. George Street, passing the St. George entrance to / exit from the station; and then
eastward along Prince Arthur Avenue to Bedford Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Bedford.

Passengers transferring from the buses to the subway can exit the buses at stops on Bedford Road, south of Prince Arthur Avenue and on St. George Street north of Bloor Street West. Passengers transferring from the subway to the buses can use both the St. George and Bedford exits from the subway station. All passengers must ask for a paper transfer when they pay their fare to successfully transfer between transit vehicles at St. George Station while the bus terminal is closed.

Wheel-Trans buses still serve the station. Wheel-Trans passengers can enter or leave the station at Bedford Road, where elevators can carry them between the street and the collector’s level and between that level and the subway platform.

Almost exactly a year ago, on August 12, 2008, the TTC closed the bus terminal at St. George Station to repave the roadway. Buses did not return to the terminal until March 2009.
