An incident involving a pedestrian at Bronte GO Station and the police and fire investigation that followed it severely disrupted GO Transit train service along the 01 Lakeshore West line yesterday evening, Monday, September 14.
A train struck and killed an elderly man west of Oakville GO Station around 6 p.m. GO stopped all eastbound trains at Bronte Station and all westbound trains at Oakville Station until emergency personnel investigated the incident and cleared the tracks.
GO and Oakville Transit shuttle buses carried passengers between the two stations, but regular service did not resume until about 9 p.m. At 10 p.m., trains were still operating behind schedule because of the earlier delay.
This is the third such incident to have delayed GO trains during the past week. A similar incident interrupted 01 Lakeshore West service near Bronte Station on Tuesday, September 8. A train operating along GO’s 65 Barrie line struck and killed a woman walking along the tracks on Thursday, September 10.
