Over the past few weeks, York Region Transit has made several minor changes to its routes and services. It last revised its routes and services on Sunday, September 6.
The changes affect these routes: 18 Bur Oak; 20 Jane - Concord; 31 Aurora North; 32 Aurora South; 45 Mingay; 83 Trench; 86 Weldrick - Newkirk; 416 Bill Crothers high school special via Main Street Unionville; 418 Pierre Elliott Trudeau high school special; 428 Dr. G. W. Williams high school special.
Specifically, YRT is: canceling current routes; revising current routes; increasing service along current routes; increasing extra service to a university; increasing extra service to high schools; decreasing extra service to high schools; adjusting the schedules of current routes.
Canceling current routes
416 Bill Crothers high school special via Main Street Unionville
Friday, September 25 was the last day that YRT operated buses along this route. Few passengers were riding the buses that served stops on the route. Service only started on Tuesday, August 6.
Revising current routes
418 Pierre Elliott Trudeau high school special
Starting Monday, September 28, YRT revised the route of the bus that leaves Rodick Road and Woodbine Avenue at 7:37 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and arrives at the high school at 8 a.m.
The bus operates along its former route to Major Mackenzie Drive East and Kennedy Road, then proceeds:
eastward along Major Mackenzie East;
southward along William Berczy Boulevard; and then
westward along Bur Oak Avenue to drop off passengers on the south side of Pierre Elliot Trudeau High School.The bus that leaves the school at 3:05 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, continues to operate along the same route, picking up passengers on Bur Oak Avenue at the south side of the school, then proceeding:
westward along Bur Oak;
northward along Kennedy Road,

Increasing service along current routes
31 Aurora North
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new extra northbound trip along the route to serve passengers traveling from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School.
32 Aurora South
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating buses on new southbound and northbound trips to serve passengers traveling to and from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School.
18 Bur Oak
On Thursday, September 17, YRT started operating a bus on a new eastbound trip to reduce crowding for passengers traveling from Bur Oak Secondary School.
428 Dr. G. W. Williams high school special
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new southbound trip from the school.
20 Jane - Concord
On Thursday, September 24, YRT started operating a bus on a new northbound trip along the route to reduce crowding for passengers traveling from York University’s Keele Campus.
83 Trench
On Monday, September 28, YRT started operating an extra bus on a new southbound trip, leaving Harding Boulevard at Lilley Court at 7:55 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. The bus arrives at the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 8:14 a.m.
86 Weldrick - Newkirk
On Monday, September 28, YRT started operating a bus on a new southbound trip to serve passengers traveling to Richmond Hill High School and Jean Vanier Catholic High School.
Increasing extra service to a university
20 Jane - Concord
On Thursday, September 24, YRT started operating a bus on a new northbound trip along the route to reduce crowding for passengers traveling from York University’s Keele Campus.
The bus leaves the York at 2:17 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and continues to Mosque Gate and Teston Road, arriving at about 2:59 p.m.
Increasing extra service to high schools
31 Aurora North
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new northbound trip along the route to serve passengers traveling from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School at Wellington Street East and John West Way.
The bus leaves Wellington East and John West at 2:40 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and continues to St. John’s Sideroad and Yonge Street, arriving at 2:54 p.m.
32 Aurora South
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new southbound trip to serve passengers traveling to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School at Wellington Street East and John West Way.
The bus leaves October Lane and Stone Road at 2:39 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, passes Wellington East and John West at 2:44 p.m. and continues to Henderson Drive and McLellan Way, arriving at 3:09 p.m.
Also on Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new northbound trip to serve passengers traveling from St. Maximilian Kolbe.
The bus leaves Wellington Street East and Industrial Parkway at 2:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and continues October Lane and Stone Road, arriving at 2:39 p.m.
Also on Monday, September 14, YRT started diverting the bus that leaves October Lane and Stone Road at 7:53 a.m. Mondays to Fridays to Dr. G. W. Williams Secondary School. The bus passes St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School at 7:58 a.m. and continues on its regular route to Wellington Street East and Berczy Street, where it diverts:
southward along Berczy;
westward along Metcalfe Street;
south- and westward along Edward Street;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Dunning Street to G. W. Williams,
arriving at 8 a.m.The bus then continues eastward along Dunning;
northward along Edward;
eastward along Metcalfe; and then
northward along Berczy to Wellington East,
resuming its regular route eastward along Wellington.
18 Bur Oak
On Thursday, September 17, YRT started operating a bus on a new eastbound trip Monday-to-Friday afternoons to reduce crowding for passengers traveling from Bur Oak Secondary School.
The extra bus leaves Bur Oak Avenue and Dogwood Street at 3:10 p.m. and continues to Markham - Stouffville Hospital, arriving at about 3:30 p.m.
428 Dr. G. W. Williams high school special
On Monday, September 14, YRT started operating a bus on a new southbound trip from the school. The bus leaves the G. W. Williams at 3:18 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, proceeds along the regular route and ends its trip at Bathurst Street and Henderson Drive at 3:38 p.m.
86 Weldrick - Newkirk
On Monday, September 28, YRT started operating a bus on a new southbound trip to serve passengers traveling to Richmond Hill High School and Jean Vanier Catholic High School.
The bus leaves Jefferson Forest Drive and Arden Valley Street at 7:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, continues along its regular route Richmond Hill High School, arriving at 7:49 a.m. It then continues along its regular route to Newkirk Road and Centre Street, then diverts:
eastward along Centre;
northward along Bayview Avenue to Redstone Road (Jean Vanier High School), arriving at 8:02 a.m.The bus then continues:
westward along Crosby Avenue to Newkirk Road, resuming its regular route southward along Newkirk.
The bus arrives at Bathurst Street and Weldrick Avenue at 8:30 a.m.
YRT also adjusted the schedule of the route.
Decreasing service along current routes
45 Mingay
On Thursday, October 1, YRT decreased the service on this new route from about every 30 minutes to about every 40 minutes. Buses first operated along the route on Tuesday, September 8.
Southbound buses leave Major Mackenzie Drive East and Mingay Avenue at 6:05, 6:43, 7:20, 8:05 and 8:50 a.m. and 3:15, 3:55, 4:40, 5:28, 6:15, 7:08 and 7:50 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Northbound buses leave Markville Mall at 5:50, 6:28, 7, 7:45 and 8:30 a.m. and 3:35, 4:20, 5:08, 5:55, 6:48 and 7:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Friday, September 25 was the last day that YRT operated buses along this route. Few passengers were riding the buses that served stops on the route. Service only started on Tuesday, August 6.
Adjusting the schedules of current routes
86 Weldrick - Newkirk
On Monday, September 28, YRT adjusted the schedule for two Monday-to-Friday morning trips, so that passengers have more time at Richmond Hill GO Station to connect with southbound GO Transit trains operating along the 61 Richmond Hill line.
The southbound bus that formerly left Jefferson Forest Drive and Arden Valley Street at 7:18 a.m. Mondays to Fridays now leaves ten minutes earlier at 7:08 a.m. The bus arrives at Richmond Hill GO Station at 7:41 a.m. and Rutherford GO Station at 8:01 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.
The northbound bus that formerly left Rutherford GO Station at 6:20 a.m. Mondays to Fridays now leaves ten minutes earlier at 6:10 a.m. The bus arrives at Richmond Hill GO Station at 6:34 a.m. and Jefferson Forest Drive and Arden Valley Street at 7:06 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.
YRT also increased service to a high school along this route.
