The TTC is closing the lot for the next phase of its project to upgrade the bridge carrying the subway tracks across Keele Street and Indian Grove east and west of the station. (The TTC’s website advises commuters that it would close the lot “on or about October 19”.) It intends to open part of the lot in December and the entire lot in early 2010.

The TTC is closing the lot so that its contractor can build five new pillars in the lot to help support the bridge deck and also to store the machinery and heavy equipment for finishing the job. During the work, the TTC is also closing the automated entrance / exit at the east end of the station near Indian Grove. It’s built a temporary entrance / exit for passengers going to, or coming from, points east of the station. The main west-end entrance off Keele Street remains open throughout the construction.

TTC contractors have been working on the bridge at Keele Station for several months, slowing trains operating along the 2 Bloor - Danforth line in both directions. You can find out more about the project here.
