GO starts building new facilities at Mount Pleasant Station

On Monday, October 26, GO Transit contractors started to build about 700 more parking spaces, a new “kiss and ride” facility — to let motorists to drop off and pick up GO passengers — and a pedestrian walkway at Mount Pleasant GO Station in Brampton. The contractors will also install landscaping and lighting at the station.

Mount Pleasant already has about 612 parking spaces and the lot is always full. GO is using the empty western part of its property beside the bus loop to add about 700 more spaces. This increases the number of parking spaces at the station by114 per cent.

During the construction, GO is restricting access through the west tunnel but passengers can still use the east tunnel. GO expects to open the new parking spaces in early 2010.
