This weekend we catch up on some recent news stories.
At its meeting on Tuesday, October 19, the Metrolinx board of directors approved studying a proposal to electrify the entire GO train system
Metrolinx expects the study will cost more than $2 million. It will be the first time Metrolinx has reviewed the health and community impacts and the economics of electrification. Earlier studies examined electrifying the Lakeshore line only and focused on comparing the cost of electric trains with the cost of diesel. This study will also consider alternative rail technologies.
Metrolinx hopes to finish the study by December, 2010.
