The TTC and City of Toronto are opening the new bus-only roadway between York University and Downsview Station on Friday, November 20.
The busway includes:
- new bus entrances and exits onto William R. Allen Road to and from Downsview Station;
- full-time bus-only lanes on Allen Road and Dufferin Street between the hydro right-of-way north of Finch Avenue and Downsview Station; and
- a new east-west bus-only roadway in the hydro right-of-way north of Finch Avenue between Keele and Dufferin Streets.
The City and TTC already opened one part of the busway — a new north-south bus-only roadway on York University lands between Murray Ross Parkway and York Boulevard — on Sunday, September 6.
When the busway opens, the TTC will revise several routes so that buses operate along the including the 104 Faywood, 105 Dufferin North, 117 Alness and 196 York University rocket routes. Buses operating along York Region Transit’s Viva orange route also will likely use the busway, although YRT has not confirmed that it will reroute its buses as soon as the busway opens.
We’ll describe the exact routes when we post details of all the TTC’s November 22 service changes over the next few days. If you can’t wait that long, check out Transit Toronto’s April 26 post to find out how the buses operate once the busway is open.
