Update — February 3, 2010: You can view the transit growth strategy and plan here. (.pdf)
The City of Guelph and Guelph Transit are hosting a public information centre about their long-term strategic transit plan at Guelph City Hall on Tuesday, December 1.
The presentations and displays include early designs for a downtown transit terminal, which the City hopes to develop with the arrival of GO Transit trains to Guelph in 2011.
Staff will make presentations on how Guelph Transit plans to:
- Develop a long-term vision and growth strategy for transit services;
- Review current transit operations, including mobility services, to improve overall service and efficiency;
- Assess the feasibility of developing bus rapid transit or light rail transit services in Guelph and linking Guelph to nearby municipalities; and
- Update the design for a downtown transit terminal to accommodate passengers connecting with GO trains. The terminal will stand on Carden Street near the VIA Rail station.
The meeting takes place from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1 in the Main Floor Committee Room of Guelph City Hall, 1 Carden Street.
