The Olympic flame is lighting up Peterborough County.
Transit passengers should expect delays or detours as the Olympic Torch Relay to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games passes through, and spends the night, in Peterborough on Tuesday, December 15.
Since Peterborough’s celebration to welcome the torch takes place in Morrow Park, the City is not closing any streets for an extended period of time.
Nevertheless, as the torch proceeds through the city, the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service and the City of Peterborough will temporarily close and then re-open streets to protect the safety of the torch-bearers and their companions.
The torch starts its journey through Peterborough at George Street North and Charlotte Street around 6:45 p.m. It proceeds southward along George North and South to Morrow Park south of Lansdowne Avenue, arriving in the park at about 7 p.m.
The Olympic Torch Relay affects these routes on Tuesday, December 15:
