Less service to universities and colleges, starting next week



As the winter academic term winds up, local transit agencies are gradually decreasing extra bus services to colleges and universities.

Starting Monday, April 5, GO Transit decreased service to the University of Guelph and York University. Starting Friday, April 9, it decreased service to McMaster University. Starting next Monday, April 19, GO, Grand River Transit and the St. Catharines Transit Commission decrease service to Brock University, Durham College’s Oshawa Campus, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.

Most agencies end all extra service to universities and colleges after the week of April 26.

Brock Bullet

Friday, April 16 is the last day until September that the St. Catharines Transit Commission operates buses along the Brock Bullet express route between Brock and the Downtown St. Catharines Transit Terminal. Service resumes on Tuesday, September 7.

The SCTC continues buses along the 4 Oakdale - Pen - Brock, 16 Brock - Glenridge routes between Downtown St. Catharines and Brock. It also operates buses along the 15A West St. Catharines / Brock commuter shutte, 21 Confederation, 122 Pen - Brock shuttle and Tupper extra routes between Brock and other parts of St. Catharines and Thorold.

93 Durham College / UOIT - Scarborough Centre

Friday, April 16 is the last day until September that GO Transit operates two eastbound buses along the route. The buses that currently leave the Scarborough Centre GO Bus Terminal at 7:10 and 9:50 a.m. Mondays to Friday do not operate starting Monday, April 19. (The buses arrive at Durham College / UOIT at 7:50 and 10:20 a.m.)

GO continues to operate all other buses along the route until Friday, April 30. All service resumes on Tuesday, September 7.

Durham Region Transit buses operating along the 401 Simcoe, 419 GO via Thronton, 419B GO via Stevenson, 420 Durham College / UOIT, 915 *Taunton, 916 Rossland and 950 Uxbridge / Port Perry / UOIT routes and GO buses operating along the 52 Oshawa - York * route continue to serve the twin campuses of Durham College and UOIT.

Saturday, April 17, is the last day that Grand River Transit operates the extra buses along the routes that it has been operating since last Friday, April 9 during the exam period. GRT continues to operate all other buses along the routes.
