The City of Guelph is closing

  • Westmount Road between Speedvale Avenue West and London Road West

for a project to rebuild the roadway.

(The City is closing the road in three sections:

  • between Speedvale Avenue West and Division Street from April until June;
  • between Summit Crescent and London Road West from June until September; and
  • between Division Street and Summit Crescent from September until November.)

Guelph Transit is detouring buses operating along the 7 St. Joseph’s Hospital and Lourdes high school special routes during the work.

(The buses are not operating directly to St. Joseph’s Hospital while the construction continues.)

Lourdes high school special

From Monday, April 19 until Monday, June 28, buses drop off and pick up passengers on Kathleen Street beside the pathway to the school, instead of in front of the school on Westmount Road.

7 St. Joseph’s Hospital

From Monday, April 19 until Tuesday, November 30, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Kathleen Street and Speedvale Avenue West, then detour:

southward along Kathleen;
eastward along London Road West;
south- and southeastward along Woolwich Street; and then
southward along Baker Street to Quebec Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along Quebec.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Westmount Road at Kimberley Crescent, opposite Highview Place, Division Street, Summit Crescent and at Campion Avenue and London Road West,
  • on Yorkshire Street North south of London Road West and at Suffolk Street West, and
  • on Suffolk Street West at Glasgow and Dublin Streets North and Norfolk Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Kathleen Street at 288, 204 and 72 Kathleen
  • on London Road West at Dublin Street North and Woolwich Street and
  • on Woolwich Street southeast of Norfolk Street.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Woolwich Street and Suffolk Street East, then detour:

northwest- and northward along Woolwich Street; and then
westward along Speedvale Avenue West to Westmount Road,
resuming their regular route westward along Speedvale West.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Suffolk Street West west of Norfolk Street, Dublin and Glasgow Streets North,
  • on Yorkshire Street North at Garth Street and London Road West,
  • on Westmount Road at Campion Street, north of Summit Crescent, at Division Street
  • at St. Joseph’s Health Centre,
  • on Westmount Road at Highview Place and Speedvale Avenue West and
  • on Speedvale Avenue West at Edinburgh Road North.

Instead, outbound buses serve temporary stops

  • on Woolwich Street west of Eramosa Road, opposite Yarmouth Street / Suffolk Street East, at Norfolk Street / Norwich Street East, London Road East, Kerr Street, at Powell Street East and Earl Street and
  • on Speedvale Avenue West at the Twin Towers Apartments and 117 Speedvale West.

Guelph Transit has been detouring buses from their regular route along Norfolk Street since Thursday, April 1. This new detour replaces that earlier detour.

It has also been detouring buses from their regular route along Woodlawn Road West since Monday, April 12. That detour continues, with outbound buses proceeding along this detour, serving regular stops on Speedvale Avenue West at Edinburgh Road North, then detouring on the earlier detour route along Edinburgh North.
