Minor TTC route changes downtown during G20 summit,
June 25, 26, 27



The TTC intends to operate almost regular service throughout the G20 Summit in downtown Toronto from Friday, June 25 until Sunday, June 27.

However, it will revise seven routes downtown so that buses and streetcars do not drop off or pick up passengers inside the security zone near the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where the leaders of the nations with the world’s twenty biggest economies will be meeting.


The changes affect these routes: 6 Bay; 72A Pape via Commissioners; 97B Yonge; 320 Yonge overnight; 503 Kingston Rd tripper; 509 Harbourfront; 510 Spadina.


6 Bay

On Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Adelaide Street West, then detour:

eastward along Adelaide West;
southward along Yonge Street;
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
southward along Freeland Street;
eastward along Queens Quay East; and then
northward along Lower Jarvis Street to a stop just north of Queens Quay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street south of King Street West, at Wellington Street West, south of Front Street West and Harbour Street,
  • on Front Street West east of Bay Street and at Yonge Street,
  • on Queens Quay West east of Bay,
  • on Yonge at Queens Quay,
  • on Freeland Street north of Queens Quay East and at Lake Shore Boulevard East and
  • on Lower Jarvis Street south of Lake Shore East.

(Buses operate in the opposite direction than usual along Freeland Street, Lake Shore Boulevard East, Lower Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East.)

Northbound buses start their trips on Lower Jarvis Street just north of Queens Quay East, then proceed:

northward along Lower Jarvis;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
westward along Wellington Street West to Bay Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Bay.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Lower Jarvis Street south of Lake Shore Boulevard East and at Queens Quay East,
  • on Queen’s Quay East at Freeland and Yonge Streets,
  • on Yonge north of Queens Quay and
  • on Bay Street north of Queen’s Quay West, opposite the Air Canada Centre and at Front and Wellington Streets West.
509 Harbourfront

On Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, streetcars operate along their regular route, but will not stop at Queens Quay Station.

503 Kingston Rd tripper

Buses continue to replace streetcars during construction at Bingham Loop.

On Friday, June 25, westbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street East and Church Street, then detour:

westward along King Streets East and West; and then
northward along York Street to Adelaide Street West,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Church Street at Wellington Street East,
  • on Wellington East and West at Yonge, Bay and York Streets.

Eastbound buses start their trips at York Street and Adelaide Street West, then proceed:

eastward along Adelaide Streets West and East; and then
southward along Church Street to King Street East,
resuming their regular route eastward along King East.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wellington Street West at York Street,
  • on York Street at King Street West,
  • on King West and East at Bay, Yonge and Church Streets.
72A Pape via Commissioners

Buses are already detouring off the Esplanade between Scott and Yonge Streets during construction at the Sony Centre.

On Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellington Street West and Bay Street, ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street south of Wellington Street West and
  • on Front Street West east of Bay.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Wellington Street West at Bay Street, then proceed:

northward along Bay;
eastward along Adelaide Street West;
southward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Front Street East to Scott Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Scott.

  • on Front Street West east of Bay Street and at Yonge Street.
510 Spadina

On Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, streetcars operate along their regular route, but will not stop at Queens Quay Station.

97B Yonge

During the morning rush hour on Friday, June 25, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge and Wellington Streets, then detour:

southward along Yonge Street;
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
southward along Freeland Street;
eastward along Queens Quay East; and then
northward along Lower Jarvis Street to a stop just north of Queens Quay.

  • on Bay Street south of Wellington and Front Streets West and Harbour Street,
  • on Queens Quay West east of Bay and
  • on Yonge Street north of Queens Quay.

Northbound buses start their trips on Lower Jarvis Street just north of Queens Quay East, then proceed:

northward along Lower Jarvis; and then
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Yonge.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Yonge Street north of Queens Quay.

During the afternoon rush hour on Friday, June 25, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge Street and Lake Shore Boulevard, then detour:

eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
southward along Freeland Street;
eastward along Queens Quay East; and then
northward along Lower Jarvis Street to a stop just north of Queens Quay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Yonge Street at Queens Quay.

Northbound buses start their trips on Lower Jarvis Street just north of Queens Quay East, then proceed:

northward along Lower Jarvis;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
northward along Yonge Street to Front Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Yonge.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Yonge Street at Queen’s Quay,
  • on Bay Street north of Queens Quay West and opposite the Air Canada Centre and
  • on Front Street West east of Bay.
320 Yonge overnight

On Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge Street and Lake Shore Boulevard, then detour:

eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
southward along Freeland Street;
eastward along Queens Quay East; and then
northward along Lower Jarvis Street to a stop just north of Queens Quay.

Northbound buses start their trips on Lower Jarvis Street just north of Queens Quay East, then proceed:

northward along Lower Jarvis;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
northward along Yonge Street to Front Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Yonge.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Yonge Street at Queens Quay.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Yonge Street at Queen’s Quay,
  • on Bay Street north of Queens Quay West and opposite the Air Canada Centre and
  • on Front Street West east of Bay.
