Oakville Transit revises routes and services, July 4



Oakville Transit is shortening one its routes, increasing the frequency of service along another and adjusting the schedules of several more, starting Sunday, July 4.


The changes affect these routes: 1 Trafalgar, 2 Lakeshore, 3 Third Line, 6 Upper Middle, 13 Westoak Trails, 14 Lakeshore West, 71 White Oaks Secondary high school special, 80 Holy Trinity high school special, 81 Loyola / Abbey Park high school special, 82 Loyola North high school special, 84 Oakville Trafalgar high school special, 85Iroquois Ridge high school special.


Specifically, Oakville Transit is: shortening a current route, increasing the frequency of service along a current route, canceling extra service to high schools; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.


Shortening a current route


14 Lakeshore West

Starting Monday, July 4, all buses start and end their trips at Lakeside Village in Burlington at all times of the week.

Buses no longer operate along Lakeshore Road in Burlington to the Downtown Burlington Transit Terminal Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Burlington Transit is increasing the hours of service of its 9 Lakeshore dial-a-ride route to replace the Oakville Transit service.

Oakville Transit is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

Increasing the frequency of service along a current route.


1 Trafalgar

Oakville Transit is increasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Sunday, July 3, buses operate every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, Sundays and holidays from about 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Southbound buses leave the Uptown Core Terminal every 30 minutes from 8:10 until 10:10 a.m., every 20 minutes from 10:45 a.m. until 5:05 p.m. and every 30 minutes from 5:40 until 7:40 p.m. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station every 30 minutes from from 8:25 until 10:25 a.m., every 20 minutes from 10:25 a.m. until 5:25 p.m., every 30 minutes from 5:25 until 7:25 p.m.

Starting Saturday, July 9, buses operate every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, Saturdays from about 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Southbound buses leave the Uptown Core Terminal every 30 minutes from from 7:10 until 10:10 a.m., every 20 minutes from 10:45 a.m. until 5:05 p.m., every 30 minutes from 5:40 until 11:10 p.m. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station every 30 minutes from 6:25 until 10:25 a.m., every 20 minutes from 10:25 a.m. until 5:25 p.m. and every 30 minutes from 5:25 until 11:35 p.m.

Canceling extra service to high schools


80 Holy Trinity high school special
85 Iroquois Ridge high school special
81 Loyola / Abbey Park high school special
82 Loyola North high school special
84 Oakville Trafalgar high school special
71 White Oaks Secondary high school special

Starting this week, buses do not operate along these special high school routes until Tuesday, September 7.


Adjusting the schedules of current routes


2 Lakeshore

Oakville Transit is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedules to improve service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Bronte GO Station.

Starting Monday, July 4, the eastbound buses that leave Bronte GO Station at 6:05, 6:25, 6:45, 7:05, 7:25, 7:45, 8:05, 8:25, 8:45 and 9:05 a.m. leave two minutes earlier at 6:03, 6:23, 6:43, 7:03, 7:23, 7:43, 8:03, 8:23, 8:43 and 9:03 a.m. The westbound buses that currently leave Winston Park Drive at Bristol Circle at 6:45, 7:05, 7:25, 7:45, 8:05, 8:25, 8:45 and 9:05 a.m. leave two minutes earlier at 6:43, 7:03, 7:43, 8:03, 8:23, 8:43 and 9:03 a.m.

14 Lakeshore West

Starting Monday, July 4, Oakville Transit adjusts the schedule of the bus that currently leaves Marine Drive and East Street at 5:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, picks up passengers along Marine and Jones Street, then eastward along the regular route to Rebecca Street and Dorval Drive and then express along Dorval, Speers Road and Cross Street to Oakville GO Station, arriving at 5:50 a.m.

Instead the bus leaves Bronte Village (mall) at Lakeshore Road West and Bronte Road at 5:20 a.m., serves all local stops along the route and then arrives at Oakville GO Station at 5:50 a.m.

Oakville Transit is also shortening the route.

3 Third Line

Oakville Transit is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedules to improve service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Bronte GO Station.

Starting Monday, July 4, the southbound buses that currently leave Third Line and Dundas Street West at 4:34, 4:54. 5:14, 5:34, 5:54, 6:14, 6:34 and 6:54 p.m. leave five minutes later at 4:39, 4:59, 5:19, 5:39, 5:59, 6:19, 6:39 and 6:59 p.m. The northbound buses that currently leave Hopedale Terminal at 4:10, 4:30, 4:50, 5:10, 5:30, 5:50, 6:10 and 6:30 p.m. leave five minutes later at 4:15, 4:35, 4:55, 5:15, 5:35, 5:55, 6:15 and 6:35 p.m.

6 Upper Middle

Oakville Transit is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedules to improve service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Bronte GO Station.

Starting Monday, July 4, the eastbound buses that leave Bronte GO Station at 6:15, 6:35, 6:55, 7:15, 7:35, 7:55, 8:15 and 8:35 a.m. leave two minutes earlier at 6:13, 6:33, 6:53, 7:13, 7:33, 7:53, 8:13 and 8:33 a.m. The westbound buses that currently leave Winston Park Drive at Bristol Circle at 6:54, 7:14, 7:34, 7:54, 8:14, 8:34, 8:54 and 9:14 a.m. leave two minutes earlier at 6:52, 7:12, 7:32, 8:12, 8:32, 8:52 and 9:12 a.m.

13 Westoak Trails

Starting Monday, July 4, Oakville Transit complete revises the Monday-to-Friday schedule to improve service to passengers wanting to connect with GO Transit trains at Bronte and Oakville GO Stations. Buses continue to operate with the same frequency of service — about every 20 minutes during rush hours, every 30 minutes from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and every hour after 7 p.m.
