Steeles / Brimley construction affects TTC buses,
September 14 to 17

Update — September 16, 4:10 p.m.: The TTC has identified one more loop that it plans to rebuild — at Victoria Park Avenue.

The TTC and York Region Transit are continuing a project to rebuild six bus loops just north of Steeles Avenue East in Markham.

The TTC is detouring various routes while work proceeds.

(It has already detoured buses operating along the 130 Middlefield and 353 Steeles East overnight routes during work at the loop on the east side of Middlefield Road north of Steeles East and buses operating along the 129 McCowan North and 302 Danforth Rd - McCowan overnight routes during work at the loop on the east side of McCowan Road. It continues to detour buses operating along the 68 Warden and 324 Victoria Park overnight routes during work at the loop on the west side of Warden Avenue.)

This time: the loop on the east side of Brimley Road.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 21 Brimley route while the loop is closed, starting Tuesday, September 14.

21 Brimley

From Tuesday, September 14 until Friday, September 17, southbound buses start their trips on Winston Road, west of Brimley Road, then proceed:

eastward along Winston; and then
southward along Brimley Road to across from the Steeles / Brimley Loop,
resuming their regular route southward along Brimley.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • in Steeles / Brimley Loop.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Brimley Road and Steeles Avenue East, then detour:

westward along Steeles East;
northward along Fenton Road;
northeastward along Aldergrove Drive; and then
eastward along Winston Road to Brimley,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Brimley Road south of Steeles Avenue East and north of Steeles East and
  • in Steeles / Brimley Loop.

Construction at the Steeles / Middlefield Loop started on Monday, August 30 and continued until Thursday, September 9.

Construction at the Steeles / McCowan Loop started on Monday, September 6 and continued until Friday, September 10.

Construction at the Steeles / Warden Loop started on Wednesday, September 8 and continues until Sunday, September 12.

Construction of two more TTC loops north of Steeles Avenue East follows:

  • at Victoria Park Avenue from Tuesday, September 20 until December; and
  • at Esna Park Drive from Wedesday, September 21 until Friday, October 8.
