Guelph Transit detours buses at London / Edinburgh,
during construction starting September 18



Update — November 16, 5:09 p.m.: Construction now includes Edinburgh Road between Willow Road and London Road West. Guelph Transit detours continue until mid-December.


The City of Guelph is closing the intersection of

  • Edinburgh Road North and London Road West

to all traffic from Saturday, September 18 until mid-October, during the next phase of its project to rebuild the roadway.

Guelph Transit is detouring buses operating along the 7 St. Josephs Hospital and 22 Conestoga route, while the intersection is closed.

From Saturday, September 18 until mid-October, inbound buses operate along their current detour route to Speedvale Avenue West and Edinburgh Road North, then further detour:

eastward along Speedvale West; and then
southward along Woolwich Street to London Road West,
resuming their regular route southward along Woolwich.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Dawson Road south of Speedvale Avenue West, at Shelldale Crescent and Willow Road and
  • on Willow Road east of Bagot Street,
  • on Edinburgh Road North south of Willow Road,
  • on London Road West at Hamel Avenue, Kirkland Street, Dublin Street North and Woolwich Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Woolwich Street south of Speedvale Avenue West, across from Mac Street, at Verney Street, south of Clark Street and at Tiffany Street West.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Quebec Street and Norfolk Street, then detour:

westward along Paisley Street and Paisley Road;
northward along Alma Street North; and then
eastward along Willow Road to Dawson Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Dawson.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Suffolk Street West west of Norfolk Street, at Park Street, west of Glasgow and Yorkshire Streets North and at Edinburgh Road North,
  • on Edinburgh Road North at London Road West and south of Willow Road and
  • on Willow Road across from Bagot Street.

Instead, outbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Paisley Street west of Norfolk Street, at Glasgow and Yorkshire Streets North, across from Harrison Street, west of Edinburgh Road North, at Bagot Street and Alma Street North,
  • on Alma Street North north of Suffolk Street West, at Drew Street and Willow Road.
7 St. Josephs Hospital

From Saturday, September 18 until mid-October, inbound buses operate along their current detour route to Kathleen Street and London Road West, then detour:

eastward along London West; and then
southward along Woolwich Street and Wyndham Street North to St. George’s Square,
ending their trips.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Westmount Road across from Division Street and Summit Crescent, at Campion Street and London Road West,
  • on Yorkshire Street North south of London Road West and at Suffolk Street West and
  • on Suffolk Street West at Glasgow and Dublin Streets North and Norfolk Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Woolwich Street south of Norfolk Street / Norwich Street.

Outbound buses start their trips at St. George’s Square, then proceed:

northward along Wyndham Street North and Woolwich Street; and then
westward along Speedvale Avenue West to Edinburgh Road North,
resuming their regular route westward along Speedvale West.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Suffolk Street West west of Norfolk Street, at Park Street and west of Glasgow Street North,
  • on Yorkshire Street North at Garth Street and London Road West,
  • on London Road West at Westmount Road,
  • on Westmount Road at Summit Crescent and Division Street
  • at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and
  • on Westmount Road at Highview Crescent.

Instead, outbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Woolwich Street west of Eramosa Road, opposite Yarmouth Street / Suffolk Street East, at Norfolk Street / Norwich Street East, London Road East, Kerr Street, at Powell Street East and Earl Street and
  • on Speedvale Avenue West beside the Twin Towers Apartments and 117 Speedvale West.

Construction along Westmount Road started on Monday, April 19.

Construction along Edinburgh Road North started on Thursday, July 22.

Construction along Dawson Road started Wednesday, April 21. Buses temporarily resumed their regular route along Dawson, starting Wednesday, April 28. This phase of the construction resumed Monday, May 10.


Inbound buses operate toward downtown Toronto.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown Toronto.
