Introducing a new route

199 Finch rocket

For the first time since November 2002, when it opened the 4 Sheppard subway line, the TTC is introducing a new route for its passengers.

The new 199 Finch rocket service offers passengers “express” service - the buses only stop at major intersections - along Finch Avenue East and McCowan Road between Finch and Scarborough Centre Stations.

The TTC is also reorganizing the 39 Finch East route, canceling most express service along that route and eliminating some branches.

Mondays to Fridays, buses operate along the new 199 Finch rocket route:

  • every 4 minutes during morning rush hours;
  • every 5 minutes 20 seconds from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.;
  • every 5½ minutes during afternoon rush hours; and
  • every 7½ minutes from about 7 until 10 p.m.

Saturdays, buses operate:

  • every 7½ minutes from about 8 a.m. until noon; and
  • every 7 minutes from about noon until 7 p.m

Westbound buses start their trips in Scarborough Centre Station bus terminal, then proceed:

eastward along Triton Road;
northward along McCowan Road;
westward along Finch Avenue East; and then
northward into Finch Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at stops:

  • in Scarborough Centre Station terminal,
  • on McCowan Road at Sheppard Avenue East,
  • Finch Avenue East west of McCowan Road and at Brimley Road, Midland Avenue, Kennedy and Birchmount Roads, Warden, Pharmacy and Victoria Park Avenues, Seneca College, Don Mills Road, Leslie Street and Bayview Avenue and - in Finch Station bus terminal.

Eastbound buses reverse the route.

Eastbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at stops:

  • in Finch Station terminal; - on Finch Avenue East at Bayview Avenue, Leslie Street, Don Mills Road, Seneca Hill Drive, Victoria Park, Pharmacy and Warden Avenues, Birchmount and Kennedy Road, Midland Avenue, Brimley and McCowan Roads,
  • on McCowan Road at Sheppard Avenue East and - in Scarborough Centre Station terminal.

Since the TTC is introducing this new express service along McCowan Road between Finch Avenue East and Scarborough Centre Station, it’s also decreasing the frequency of service along the 129 McCowan North route.
