Beer-vat odyssey behind schedule

Tweets from the energy transportation manager of Challenger Motor Freight have let us know that, apparently, the mighty convoy of six giant beer vats is no longer on the schedule that we posted yesterday.

The convoy is still within the City of Hamilton, parked for the day near York Boulevard and Dundurn Street North.

Although Burlington Transit has not confirmed this information, passengers should expect buses operating along the 1 Fairview / Plains route to detour along Highway 403 between Waterdown Road and King or Main Streets West in Hamilton, as we described in yesterday’s post. Shuttle buses replace the regular 1 Fairview / Plains service along Waterdown Road and Plains Road West between Aldershot GO Station and the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The convoy probably does not affect buses operating along [Hamilton Street Railway] (http://bit.ly/6UFalc) routes tonight, unless the parked convoy is slows down traffic along York Boulevard, delaying service along the 8 York route.

We’ll update the itinerary as we learn more information.
