New fareboxes in Peterborough, starting January 17

Starting next Monday, January 17, Peterborough Transit is equipping all its buses with new fareboxes. The fareboxes require passengers to buy ride cards, instead of tickets.

Peterborough Transit hasn’t yet updated its website, so we don’t have official information. Reader Trevor Harris has let us know that you can buy ten-ride cards are available for $20 each and that you can still use current passes until March 31, when Peterborough Transit launches a new pass system.

The fareboxes are likely similar to those that the St. Catharines Transit Commission recently introduced.

We’ll update this post as we learn more information.
