Toronto Transit Commission postpones cutting service

At a special meeting today to consider the 2011 TTC budget, the Toronto Transit Commission postponed deciding whether to decrease service along 48 routes.

TTC staff recommended decreasing some late-evening and weekend service to help balance the 2011 budget — keeping expenditures at 2010 levels and still meeting an increase in the numbers of passengers. The TTC proposes reallocating the resources from cutting late-evening and weekend services to beef up Monday-to-Friday rush-hour service along the busiest routes.

The Commissioners will again consider the proposal during their next meeting on Wednesday, February 2.
