Buses detour during Brampton waterworks construction,
starting January 24

Update — March 30, 2011, 5:43 a.m.: Construction has ended and buses have resumed their regular route.

The City of Brampton is closing

  • the intersection of Chinguacousy Road North with Wanless Drive

for about a month, starting Monday, January 24 to accommodate a Region of Peel waterworks construction project.

Contractors are resuming work on a project they originally started on Monday, November 22.

Brampton Transit is detouring buses operating along the 4A Chinguacousy route, while the work continues.

4A Chinguacousy

From Monday, January 24 until Monday, February 21, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Creditview Road and Crown Victoria Drive, then detour:

east- and southward along Crown Victoria Drive;
eastward along Sugar Hill Drive;
southward along Brisdale Drive to Botavia Downs Drive,
resuming their regular route eastward along Botavia Downs.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wanless Drive at Thornbush Road and
  • on Brisdale Drive south of Wanless Drive and at Venetian Terrace.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Brisdale Drive north of Sugar Hill Drive and at Wanless Drive and
  • on Wanless Drive across from Thornbush Drive.

You can see a map of the detour here. (.pdf)

The work does not affect buses operating along the main 4 Chinguacousy route.

During the project, Region of Peel contractors are installing new watermains and sanitary sewers to handle the needs of future development in the area. They’ll install a watermain and sanitary sewer on Wanless Drive from west of Creditview Road to Brisdale Drive and install a watermain on Creditview Road through the intersection at Wanless Road.
