Longer platforms at Oriole and York University GO Stations

Updated — January 24, 9:33 a.m. (Thanks, “Tom W.”!)

On Wednesday, January 19, GO Transit contractors start working on a project to extend the platforms at Oriole GO Station on the 61 Richmond Hill line and York University GO Station on the 65 Barrie line.

When construction ends, the longer platforms will include new heated shelters, more lighting, a public address system and better security from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Most of the construction takes place Mondays to Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to reduce the impact on rush-hour commuters. The work continues until the summer.

The longer platforms set the stage for GO to accommodate 12-car trains along both lines in the future.
